Sorry ladies, bad news...

Congratulations.
Don't have an engagement story for myself but I do have two from my two best mates. One had a gf from the US who he met while we were in college in the second half of 2004. After she left to go back they kept their relationship going through 2005 and in the new year he went to visit her and as soon as he saw her in the arrivals lounge he dropped to one knee and asked her to marry him. About 6 months before he also went to the states and asked her parents for her hand so they were ready with cameras when he arrived in the states.
Another mate went for a complex plan where he photoshopped one of his gf's favourite pictures on the wall and put in the question and then hung it back up. After a day though she still hadn't noticed and he broke down and did the on one knee thing, then pointed out the picture.
Both got yes as replies. They both got married in January of 2007 about 2 weeks apart.
