Sony Spider-Verse discussion thread

My daughters, who are actual teenagers, really like the Holand movies, including supporting cast.

As a dad, i definitley see those films as really vibing with the next generation and a good representation of them.
As a middle-aged adult without any kids, I love all of the Holland films and the supporting cast. I greatly enjoyed seeing Peter struggling as a young man with these new found powers, while balancing his friendships and romantic interests in a realistic, refreshing manner. Seeing that play out felt very true to the core nature of the character from the beginning. More importantly, the films did that without the obnoxious teen angst of the Raimi films that I always felt off-putting (at best), which came out when I was a young man.

Same here, Tom Holland is my favorite live action Spider-Man, and his supporting cast is a highlight of his movies. I thought the movies did a fantastic job of updating the tone and style of the early issues and

Tom Holland is great, Zendaya is great, but too much Stark, and Peter has been stuck in his high school years in adaptations this entire century, mooooooove onnnnn.

I agree with the sentiment in spirit, but I'm pretty sure that Maguire's and Garfield's Peters were only in high school in their respective first movies and then moved on to college.

While still being a fan of the Raimi films, I have to say that I love Tom Holland as both Spider-Man and Peter--I really like how the MCU films did a new take on the supporting cast and obviously Holland's chemistry with Zendaya is evident. But what I really like, and my kids and wife do to, is the supporting cast. It is great to see a group of intelligent, somewhat "freaks and geeks" style teens be portrayed in a way that celebrates their intelligence and personalities rather than stereotypes them.

I still hope that Maguire comes back as an older Spiderman in his own 4th Spiderman movie
I have this fantasy of Sam Raimi returning as producer of a MayDay Parker Spider-Girl movie as a continuation of that series. That could use the stabbing injury Maguire-Peter received at the end of NWH to substitute the missing leg from the comics as Peter's reason to retire.

Mayday is a character I would love to see as well--exactly the right amount of time has passed since SM3 that she would be a teenager in that universe.

That's a much better plan than just moving on with Raimi Spider-man 4.

Oh, that's a terrific idea. Although I'd rather see Raimi direct than just produce. (Multiverse of Madness had its plot problems, but I was struck by how really well-directed it was.)

A good idea, the only thing is that I want a older superhero. And not again a young starting hero, which we have seen a million times before

Not unless they switch it up to AUNT May ;)
You mean Spider-Ma'am?

I was actually hoping to see her (and Kirsten Dunst's Mary Jane) when Maguire-Peter returned to his reality at the end of No Way Home. Alas...
