Known as Juan-Carlos Estrada Sanchez in the comics, El Muerto is a wrestler whose powers are handed down by ancestry in the form of a mask (which, according to Marvel’s official site, gives him superhuman strength). In past comic narratives, El Muerto has gotten in the ring with Spider-Man himself. On stage at CinemaCon, Sony brass suggested Ocasio will portray an antihero on the verge of inheriting his father’s power.
Sony's driving motivation when choosing characters seems to be ones that they won't have to spend much money on. Morbius only had a 75m budget, and I wouldn't be shocked if Kraven and this cost even less.
Even the Venom movies weren't that expensive, but people actually wanted to see them.
Madame Web seems to be a different case as it's got Marvel Studios coproducing.
Bad Bunny is a big deal already -- in the music world. The question is, will he fade out of popularity by the time this movie gets made? (I.e. will he be like Sean Paul from a few years ago, where he was teaming up with a bunch of other popular singers all in a row, but then a couple of years and thereafter, no one seems to have heard from him)Actually, their motivation in this particular case seems to be that they really think this Bad Bunny guy is going to be a really big deal within a few years and they want to keep him on their payroll. It seems their main reason for making El Muerto is because this guy wants to do a movie of this type and they let him look through the list of characters they had the rights to make. He said he wanted to do this one, apparently.
Yup, that's exactly how I feel. I've never liked Venom or Morbius, and while Tom Hardy's casting almost got me interested, it wasn't nearly enough to actually watch it.I have to give Sony credit for one thing. As long as they keep making bad movies of characters I don't know of or care to know, the movies are a lot easier to ignore!
They're not ruining the good ones just yet. See? Positive thinking.

I turned in my Youth Card a few years ago so I will take your word for it. These days I'm happy just to have heard of the artist let alone their music.Bad Bunny is a big deal already -- in the music world.
I went to see the first Venom mostly out of curiosity and it was... Okay. I think it would have gotten a better reception in the pre Iron Man / Dark Knight days. I didn't care for it enough to seek out the second, even with Woody Harrelson as Carnage. I did seek out the post credit scene on YouTube because of its supposed relevance to No Way Home, but even that turned out to be minimal. Oh well.
