Sony Spider-Verse discussion thread

It's gonna be super weird seeing the Disney castle instead of the Paramount mountain in front of Indiana Jones 5. Super weird.
Maybe the logo will segue into Indy exploring a castle ruin for the cold opening? That'll certainly help with the whiplash.

But, yeah, that's going to be rough.

Well, by now we've had, what, six theatrical Star Wars movies (counting The Clone Wars) without the 20th Century Fox fanfare, right? Although that's still weird to me to think about. Come to think of it, the original film may have been the first time I heard the entire, full-length Fox fanfare before a movie instead of the shorter version, so I associate it inseparably with Williams's opening theme. They do segue quite smoothly into each other.

Long, long ago I made an mp3 playlist of Joel McNeely's Shadows of the Empire soundtrack that started with the Fox fanfare from the original trilogy soundtrack boxset so it would feel "complete" to me.

I heard Across the Spider-verse was a bit of a mess and on course to be very much a let down compared to the first.

If that’s the case, I’m happy for Sony to put it back a year in the interests of putting the boat right.

Heard from who?

The voices.

I heard about the film(s) being a mess before the delay happened and, Covid aside, you don’t delay a film which is in good form and good to go without significant reworking. This delay just adds credence to it really.

So in other words, you're completely speculating.

No. Relaying what I heard and expanding that the subsequent delay gives it credence. There’s only one creative (plot, writing, direction) personnel carrying over from the first too, along with ‘difficult second album’ syndrome. I don’t see what’s so unbelievable about it that it’s getting kicked and ridiculed.

Saying that something is speculation is not ridicule; it's merely clarifying that it's not proven. A speculation may be entirely reasonable, and may even turn out to be true, but there's no way of knowing for sure until hard evidence comes along, so it's important not to mistake a speculation for a certainty. It should only be considered one possibility, with the mind kept open to alternative possibilities.

Oh, it’s been ridiculed alright. You only need to scroll up to see it

Across the Spider-verse part 1 has been delayed from this October to June 2023. The Madam Web film will come out the following month https://deadline.com/2022/04/spider...ase-sony-release-date-changes-1235007010/amp/
I was a little surprised to see the trailer, with the October 7 release date in front of The Bad Guys, which just came out today. I guess the decision to push it must have come to late to pull, or change the trailer.

I doubt they'll show the Disney logo, they don't show it in front of the MCU or Star Wars movies.

Maybe if you told people where you heard it...?
