Sony Spider-Verse discussion thread

I don’t get all the hatred for Morbius. It was a fine by the numbers superhero movie.
People are acting like it was the worst comic book movie ever made.

I haven't seen it yet, but the backlash could be due to two things...

1.) Sony is trying to build a spider-verse which will draw comparisons to the MCU. No Way Home was so good that Morbius seems like a major step down in comparison.
2.) The trailers were so misleading that they were borderline false advertising. People went into the movie expecting one thing and got something else entirely.

3.) The first two would have been forgivable, but (to hear reactors tell it) the post-credit scenes were so badly done they actually hurt the film retroactively in a Game of Thrones finale kind of way.

Unfortunately, the Venom movies have been successful enough that Sony will keep pushing forward with these awful movies.

Professional between jobs responds "Yes, I would take a job if somebody offered it".

I'm saying this with my tongue planted firmly in my cheek, as Raimi can probably choose anything he wants to do at this point, and rightly so. But this is always the first thing I think of when a celebrity answers this type of question.
I've seen a few quotes where directors or actors were asked this question, and actually did answer with a very clear no.

I agree about the post credit scene. I don’t really care about Vulture which is why it didn’t do anything for me.

Good. Sony needs to know they can't just feed us garbage and we'll eat it up because of the Marvel logo in the front.
Yes, but Sony is stupid and never learns.

Make it an animated movie where he doesn't have to put his back through any stunts, and you could probably get him for half-price.
Just threaten to re-cast with Jake Gyllenhaal and you'll get him half price.

The 1990 Captain America movie and the 1994 Fantastic 4 movie were better than Morbius.
Getting slapped in the face by Will Smith is better than Morbius.

Hey Sony, I dare you to put "From the studio that brought you Morbius!" on the poster. I double dare you.

They're either very brave or very stupid putting it in between Indiana Jones and Mission Impossible.

Marvel Studios have some involvement with the production of it, so they're probably going to load it up with multiversal cameos to draw people in. (An idea that's already feeling played out TBH.)

Timing is Paramount....

Ah see what I did there?

;)

I have faith that Tom Cruise and Paramount will move MI7. Again.

It's gonna be super weird seeing the Disney castle instead of the Paramount mountain in front of Indiana Jones 5. Super weird.

Along with their kiddy centric jingle "When you Wish upon a star"
