Sony Spider-Verse discussion thread

What are some recent noir movies?
The only ones coming to mind are 'L.A. Confidential' and 'The Usual Suspects'; and both of those are 30 years old.

Noir doesn't have to be in black and white.
Of course it doesn't have to. But it looks and feels better for the reasons Saul stated.

...and that's before you get to the fact the character is black and white in the Spider-Verse films. That's his calling card, so to speak.

Perhaps it's just ok to accept that some people have a preference and not try and convince them that's wrong?

Who said I was trying to convince people that watching this show in black and white was wrong? I don't think it's necessary, but I never said it was wrong.

And I was simply stating a fact when I said that the version of Spider-Noir from the Spider-verse movies isn't the same version of the character that Nicolas Cage is playing, because the former is a Variant of Peter Parker while the latter is Ben Reilly.

Noir doesn't have to be in black and white.
That's right. There are lots of other types of noir too. Neo noir, western noir, tech noir.

But considering the show is offered in black and white along with color and since it's called 'Spider-noir' with strong visual ties to an era of monochrome film making I think it's OK to connect the two here. Most people will be familiar with the look of the character because of the black and white Peter Parker version they saw from 'Into the Spiderverse'. I believe in the games you can also play this character and the game-play turns to black and white mode during that.

Yup, that looks like a ton of fun! And we don't have to wait too much longer!

Also, I'm pretty sure Andrew Robinson is glimpsed in quick shot of a reflection.

It looks like a lot of fun from the trailer. Just out of curiosity, is this anything at all like the comics?

Not really, doing a color and black white version of movies like this is becoming pretty common these day. They've done it with Mad Max: Fury Road, Werewolf by Night, and I'm pretty sure there are at least one or two others I can't think of right now.

I don't see why they would, it wasn't really going for that kind of feel. Most of time when they do this kind of thing, it's because they're mimicking a certain style, and Fallout really wasn't doing that.
And the present day stuff in Fallout is still set on Earth, it's just after a big nuclear war destroyed most of the pre-bombs civilization.

oh ok
