Sad songs / happy songs, songs that really hit you in the feels and make you think...

One of my favourites, such a heartbreaking song but so brilliant too.

One of the most haunting and bone-chilling songs ever written about drug addiction.

I have an entire playlist that hits me in the feels (regarding Jean-Luc, of course, I’m pretty much made of ice unless it’s about him). I think the most profound song on that list is “If That’s What It Takes” by Céline Dion.

There are so many I know, but the one that sticks out right now is "Famous Last Words" by Tears For Fears. It could be interpreted in a number of ways--from the end of a personal relationship to something globally apocalyptic--but it's a haunting piece with lyrics to match that somehow manages to avoid being overly depressing (it rocks out a bit towards the end).

It's hard to top this melancholy Carole King classic for sheer poignancy in expressing longing and loneliness.

This used to always get the waterworks going when I was younger. It didn't make me think of anyone in particular just makes me think of young people falling in love and being together for life.

Growing up I knew a couple of kids like Luka so this song feels very close as well that's why I chose it to start this topic.

Sometimes a music video is thinly connected to a song or isn't really connected at all. Other times, a music video smacks you in the face and tells you "No, this is what this song is really about." In the case of "Beloved" by Mumford & Sons, a song I originally thought was just about the breakup of a romantic relationship, I now realize is about the inevitable passing of a loved one. When I finally saw the music video a few days ago, it hit me hard and I was crying like a baby as I've lost quite a few dear people in my lifetime.

Now you move toward the door
Here it comes the hardest part
Try the handle of the road
    Feeling different feeling strange
    This can never be arranged
As the light fades from the screen
    From the famous final scene

I like Celine Dion but why do people riff on her or pick on her singing so much?
