Something is bothering me about the Xindi Arc

Garak007

Ok at the very end of the whole arc or season we have the Aquatics releasing Enterprise to orbit Earth only to them to find they are actually in the past during the time of World War 2. We have aliens who should not be there messing up the time line with Daniels explaining the whole situation. Fair enough.

What is to happen with regards to the Xindi after Archer corrects the time line?

I could of forgotten what Daniels explains at the end of the two partier but when everything is corrected they end up back at the right time, leaving the Xindi back in the past. Something is messed up.

I was under the impression that Enterprise was released in its own time. Remember when Daniels kidnaps Archer and takes him to other timelines, whether to the past -- Shockwave I -- or the future -- Azati Prime -- the change is seamless.

Presumably, that is what happened to Enterprise after the ship was released by the Aquatics.

Perhaps but the scenes flow from one arc to the next and gives the impression that they are connected in some way.

I find the part on Youtube where Daniels says his goodbye http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CzlRwW1IA9c&feature=related

Nothing about the Xindi which leads me to believe if the time line is being restored do they ever meet the Xindi as you had temporal beings messing around there too. They had to as the ship was wrecked and being repaired in the next episode. Ahhhh its messed up.

Well, I thought the leap to World War II in America was a stupid idea, anyway. Would have preferred just seeing the ship return home and have the next season start off with a homecoming arc.

That would have been predictable.. I would have preferred that they took the Cute Cuddly Alien Space Nazi story even further.

Oh, I've had more than enough of Space Lizard Alien Nazis.

I would have preferred to see Archer face the music for stranding those aliens, or for giving the order to destroy that observation post.

Well, in my homecoming arc we're not just talking about parties and crew members visiting family.

1. The homeworld of the aliens Archer stranded would stop in to demand that he be extradited for trial for piracy and murder (because without their warp core the crew couldn't escape pirates and some were killed).
2. Hoshi suffers from post-traumatic stress and it's possible she might not be returning to service.
3. The Lyssarian protocol prohibits the use of their larvae to create clones. They find out about Sim and are particularly outraged that he was created for body parts and actually murdered to save a human.
4. In the "Home" episode, there was no mention of the people of North Star or the crew's descendants from E2 (They're not even my kids and I want to know their fate).

Points 1 and 3 help to make Enterprise a better series then TOS, VOY and TNG combined in my view. When push comes to shove you will have to take actions that you might not believe in but will help for the greater good. It's a more realistic standing point

The Xindi and events from season 3 are mentioned in later episodes. It wasn't "undone" when the TCW ended.

Maybe we would have gotten some of that, if the show had been on a few more seasons. I don't begrudge the show for not doing it. I think they covered enough ground in Home and moved on to finish the series. Some of your suggestions I would be happy not to see as they are a litle too "fannish." I don't really understand the need to have every little thing resolved, and frankly there were too many things left unresolved in the Xindi arc. I am glad they just moved on and got to the Founding of the Federation.. I wish we could have found out things about Future Guy, and all that, but then we wouldn't have gotten the Vulcan Arc, the Augment Arc, the Babel arc or any of those other great stories because some Trip obsessed fan wanted to get another story about Sim or Lorien.

That's kind of how I feel, Mrs. Streisand. I wouldn't have minded seeing any of the things listed, but I'm glad we got what we were given in the fourth season, instead.

In a perfect world, they would have wrapped up the Xindi arc 2-3 episodes earlier and spent 2-3 episodes covering this stuff.

In a perfect world, TOS would have gotten a good seven seasons, TNG would have gotten nine or ten (without the diminishing quality many fans point to), DS9 would have gotten eight seasons, VOY... probably got it right, but would have had more on the return home, and ENT would have gotten seven or eight seasons.

IMO.

I ask too much. :)

Most people agree that TOS season three was a step down from one and two. Another four seasons of the same caliber would only have done harm (see: Those weak cartoon episodes originally written for TOS season four).

I say Enterprise needed one more season, of the quality of three and four. The Kzinti, Borg Queen origin and other planned episodes sounded like great fun. Voyager maybe had one season too many ("Spirit Folk", anyone?).

There's also the planned Guinan episode for the fifth season. As a fan of Guinan and Goldberg, I would have loved that.

Good point on TOS, though. It's not like the creative talent of the first two years would have come back; not likely, anyway.

:wtf: Later in this post you say a homecoming arc would have taken time away from the founding of the Federation arcs. A three episode homecoming arc would have taken up the same amount of time as "Stormfront I&II" and "Home," and given season 3 closure (as opposed to what we got in the 43-minute episode "Home").
Seems to me an expansive Trek Nazi story would have been a bigger waste of time because it had nothing to do with anything (and as you yourself have noted, doesn't even wrap up the TCW by telling us who FG is).

Neither do I.
I think they covered enough ground in Home and moved on to finish the series.
Right. The only ground I recall being covered in "Home" was Archer's actions in the episode in "Impulse" and his guilt over the things he did in the Expanse (which was Sham-Wowed away with a little sex at high altitude ).
And since it wasn't his fault the Vulcans on the ship were allergic to Trellium, the coverage of that ground was lame. There were plenty of witnesses (including T'Pol, who suffered the effects after brief exposure) yet no one but Archer was brought in to be debriefed, in answer to Soval's accusations, nothing.
Oh, and the xenophobia that emerged on Earth was handled with a bar fight.

Some of your suggestions I would be happy not to see as they are a litle too "fannish." I don't really understand the need to have every little thing resolved, and frankly there were too many things left unresolved in the Xindi arc.
Every little thing? :wtf: Season 3 was 24 episodes. I suggested followup on FOUR of them.
I am glad they just moved on and got to the Founding of the Federation..
I didn't know that invasion of the United States in WWII by the Nazis had anything to do with the founding of the Federation.
I wish we could have found out things about Future Guy, and all that, but then we wouldn't have gotten the Vulcan Arc, the Augment Arc, the Babel arc or any of those other great stories because some Trip obsessed fan wanted to get another story about Sim or Lorien.
Sim's dead. The story would have been about PHLOX.
The "Damage" followup would have been about ARCHER.
The Hoshi story would have been about HOSHI.
And the "E2" followup would have been about the DESCENDANTS of the entire crew.

Nice chatting with you.

I liked Storm Front. I am satisfied with how they dealt with the Xindi arc and though I believe we would have had more resolution had the show gone another season, I don't think the things you suggested are necessary or important.

You didn't like Storm Front. I get it. There's a lot about the show you obviously didn't like, considering the amount of complaint you post here in this forum.

You're welcome to your opinion. I am allowed mine.

Nice chatting with you, too.

Such a pleasant dinner table we've come upon, don't you agree? Now, if anyone needs their pants re-sized, please, don't hesitate to ask.
