Something I just finally realized about Generations

I always hated the "Nexus" as a plot device/mcguffin.
They should have stuck with another time travel gimmick to get Picard
and kirk on screen in the same era instead. Maybe some crazy shit pulled by Lore, instead of Dr. Soran, to bring Kirk into the future. It would have been more dramatic if Lore killed Kirk at the end--or if Picard was in some way forced to kill him...to keep the timeline or the universe intact in some fashion. That would have been very controversial....talk about passing the torch!

you mean like if Kirk was responsible for some event that saved JFK's life and Picard had to kill Kirk so that JFK would be assassinated?

Some more detailed CGI model? Really? In 1994? Incredibly expensive for what were really only a few beauty shots. The FX on the Enterprise was saved for the crash scene, you may recall.

I'd have liked to see a large 'D' flyby and detailed "movie" view, but it was not meant to be.

Something like that. Some action of Kirk's would have a ripple effect that would cause the end of the Federation or humanity at some future point in time--and Picard has to kill him for the greater good. Some fans would have hated it, but the controversy would have been fun....
