Some Stuff I've Been Working on...

I love the Aker-Class but thinking about it any other way than saucer fore or aft makes my head hurt, it looks too symmetrical to move sideways, crab style, for me. I'm in no way flagging the design off, it's amazing, it's my brains fault for not allowing me to visualise it moving 'sideways'.
how about thinking of her as an Aircraft carrier?
Saucer is like the carrier's "Island" suprestructure off to the side, while the hull and intergrated nacelles are analogous to the "landing deck"

I will try Atolm but I have to agree with Vincent Law on this one. However, this in no way detracts from the badassness of the design. The ship in the above image I can visualise going in any direction as it isnt symmetrical.

Keep up the good work man.

I don't have too much problem seeing it moving in the correct direction. I think it's the structures at extreme fore & aft (which I think are the engines) that really sell it for me.

Yeah, it makes me think, "what if warp dynamics required a push/pull arrangement instead of a side by side arrangement?". It's cool in it's own way.

That Mandala type set up would be a good front to a TIE equivalent of a B wing--looking like a Hurricane symbol. I like the Sona type set up. I seem to remember the end of a Trek novel where the Galaxy was unified and the Milky way was at last a member of an even larger trans-galactic federation type organization, and the vessel used something called side warp. Well, here it is.

A Physical Model I am working on...

Congrats and kudos and the excellent physical model, 'practical' modeling being a near lost art, nice seeing someone working outside a non-virtual medium.

I do have a question, had you considered having the central fin assembly as seen on the original Bird of Prey ships (pardon the pun) resurface on either the twin forward hulls or perhaps as a 'spine' on the aft area of the connecting pylon ?

If as a 'spine', it could suggest it's function as a heat-sink/thermal exhaust manifold for an inboard disruptor cannon of unheard of firepower.

I do like the parallel 'fins' as shown on the model but wonder were such repositioned on the rear area of the twin hulls upper surface and something suggestive of the TOS BOP fin in said now-vacated surface.

All in all, a nice design and a nod of appreciation for the other designs you've so kindly shared.

It's cool modelling, definitely. To follow Saquist's post, I see two YT-1300 stock light freighters and a pod racer.

Thanks mates, I am still working on her, she will have 2 Birds (one per hull), each holding a "world" within it's talons :)... BTW, each Hull is roughly the length of a TOS Constitution-class, and she would be a leftover from the Earth-Rom war... sort of how our Battleships from WW2 are generally mothballed, have been called into active duty when the need arises. another example would be SAC's B-52 Stratofortress bomber fleet. Just sharing my train of thought.

Well, that is certainly different.

But then I've known how you manage to come up with unique and unusual shapes for quite some time. You have quite a talent for designing alien ships (not to mention ships in general).

Medusan Regulus-Class:

Looks awesome to me i have wondered if they design there own ships or just use only Federation designed ones :) :techman:
To me, the Federation would build the starships for the Medusans as per spec. In return, the Medusans would venture to the furthest reaches of space charting and cataloging the space-ways for the Federation.
