In some clip I saw, Lou Diamond Phillips was saying something on the order of "These are real people, with real problems". When I hear that in reference to a sci-fi show I'm thinking here we go again with the tired old crap of trying to make sci-fi seem like real life.
Well, sci-fi isn't real life. It's sci-fi. It's about different planets and aliens and stuff THAT ISN'T REAL goddammit. If I wanted real life I wouldn't be watching the damn Sci-Fi channel.
I don't know. I'm still going to check it out no matter what my preconceptions are of the show. I look at it this way, if I think the show is going to be total horrid crap, and it actually turns out to be mildly entertaining, that'll be a plus. Which is different from looking forward to a new Stargate and only finding it mildly entertaining, which would be a minus.
