Some Interesting Sightings for Trek Actors...

If we're going retro, I'll toss in a couple sightings of Trek guest stars Ricardo Montalban and Mark Lenard on the first couple seasons of Hawaii Five-0. Sure, there were a lot of Trek actors on Hawaii Five-0 (even Shatner himself), so that in itself is nothing big, but what's particularly notable about these two is that they were both playing Japanese characters! And not only that, Lenard was playing a ninja!

I was flipping the channels and just a few moments ago I ran into that old series China Beach, with Dana Delaney and Marg Helgenberger... and look who is there: young Robert Picardo! With hair!!! And he's kinda cute!

He's fun in Inner Space too:)

Recently saw Michael Cavanaugh (Captain DeSoto of the USS Hood; and, character actor/villain on many shows in the 80s) on a Progressive insurance commercial....

Zachary Quinto played God in an episode of "Joan of Arcadia". . . and he was on "Crossing Jordan" as the victim of a kidnapping as a child. . .

Steven Culp played a lawyer in an old episode of The Closer that was on last week.

I also saw him play a millionaire whose wife is kidnapped few weeks back on Burn Notice.

Robert Beltran as Satan in "La Pastorela," duking it out with archangel Linda Ronstadt via laser eye beams.

Hmmm....and since I've read this post, I've been trying to come up with some shows that didn't have any Trek actors in it...

A few I came up with:
The Prisoner, Daybreak....UFO...War of the Worlds...
Not quite on that last one. Richard Chaves from WotW was in an episode of Voyager. Tattoo I think.

Edit: Now I come to check, Clayton Rohner from Day Break was on an early episode of TNG too. Too Short a Season.

Steven Culp was in the series premiere episode of "The Mentalist." He wasn't in the episode for long is all I'll say.

Recently saw the Academy Award-winning movie "Crash" from 2005 for the first time. Caught Marina Sirtis in small role as the wife of the Iraqi shopkeeper. Very unglamorous part and I had to do a double-take to be sure, but I find her voice very distinctive and first recognized her by that.

I'm kinda watching an episode of Tru Calling on SciFi (it's not a show that I follow, but I don't mind seeing an episode if it happens to be on TV... and "kinda watching" means that I'm mostly reading and typing on the forum, with the episode in the background, since my TV is right next to the computer) and the guest star is a guy who played Malik in the ENT Augments trilogy. He plays a sympathetic character this time.

Jean Simmons, who played Rear Admiral Satie in TNG's "The Drumhead", also played Burt Lancaster's love interest in Elmer Gantry, Sister Sharon Falconer. It is on the late night movie as I write this (there was nothing else on, except infomercials). Although her role on TNG occurred decades later, many of her mannerisms are eerily similar, including that distant gaze when she recalls her father, Judge Satie.

Titus Welliver who was in the VOY episode 'Equinox' is currently on 'The Town' portraying a cop.

A lot of the actors from TOS were on Bonanza -- DeForest K was in one playing a doctor!

Also, a lot of the female guest stars were on Bonanza, too.

The "big three" of TOS were in Gunsmoke as well. I've seen them all on DVD but had to IMDB them to find the years.

DeForest Kelley - 1956. I own this DVD (Gunsmoke seasons 1 - 4) and IIRC, I didn't recognize Kelley the first time I saw it for three reasons:

-I wasn't expecting to see Dr. McCoy in a black & white Gunsmoke episode
-He wore a cowboy hat
-He also wore an Abe Lincoln style beard - a full beard but no mustache.

Interesting trivia I just found while looking this up at imdb.com:

Kelley played Ike Clanton in a 1955 episode of You Are There called The Gunfight At The OK Corral. Link

But wait, there's more!

Kelley also played Morgan Earp in a 1957 movie with Burt Lancaster and Kirk Douglas called Gunfight At The OK Corral. Link

Leonard Nimoy - 1961, '62, '63, and '66. I've seen the 1966 episode in which Nimoy convincingly played an Indian and wore a black wig with long braids.

William Shatner - 1966. Like the Nimoy '66 episode, I saw this on a DVD borrowed from the library and don't remember much about this episode.

I've been YouTubing tonight. I'm new to this forum and hope I'm not posting stuff that has been posted a thousand times before:
