Some Discovery questions

I'm sure at least some of this is out there -- on other threads, in leaks or releases or stories -- but I am hoping you guys can help me. And maybe this thread could become a clearinghouse for nuts-and-bolts info perhaps.

So ..

1) Is there a release date yet? Last I know it was just kinda "in the fall." Has that been narrowed?

2) Will the season be released all at once for binging, or weekly? (Or on some other schedule?) I gather probably weekly since they're doing this on a subscription streaming basis and unlike Netflix (which releases seasons for binging) CBS has a lot less to offer to keep us coming back.

3) Do we know what to expect as far as length of episode? Hour-long, or maybe shorter to build in commercial breaks for later TV airing or syndication? Or longer? And will the pilot probably be longer, as they often are?

4) Will it likely one day end up on Netflix in the U.S., since they are the overseas provider in most countries?

5) What do we know about the contracts of lead actors as far as availability for future seasons? For how long as they locked in? And is it a given that there will be at least a second season, or is that kind of just assumed?

I'll hang up and listen.

1) No, and I really wouldn't be surprised if it was pushed back to sometime in the winter.

2) My understanding is weekly.

3) The length might not be fixed, in so far as some epiosdes could be longer than others. Have no idea of the average they're shooting for.

4) Probably, depends on how sucessful it is and how long it lasts. TBBT and 2BG run on TBS, NCIS is on USA. Maybe Discovery will eventual be played on one of them.

5) The contracts are probably three plus.

No.

Weekly.

The broadcast network standard for Drama series is 1 hour with commercials, and there is no reason to believe that CBS would dedicate from this standard.

4) Will it likely one day end up on Netflix in the U.S., since they are the overseas provider in most countries?

I'm going to say No; the reason Netflix is providing the series overseas is because CBS All Access is currently not available outside of the United States.
