Indeed! A great day for English football.

I would love to see one of the teams outside the Premier League win the cup, West Brom or Cardiff look good enough, however, it would be great to see Bristol do it! If a Premier does go on to lift the cup, I hope it's Portsmouth. The have a good side down there, and Harry Redknapp deserves a trophy. And no offence to Middlesbrough, but they have to be THE most uninteresting team in the top flight, indeed, watching paint dry is more appealing than watching Boro!;)

And a wee shout out for Queen of the South in the Scottish Cup. The Dumfries side have made it into the semi final for the first time in 58 years! Queens will play either Aberdeen or Celtic in the semi.
But Alas! The Scottish Cup looks to be heading for yet another Old Firm Final, with both avoiding each other in the semis if the get that far. So lets hope Aberdeen & Hibs can do what Portsmouth & Barnsley did yesterday!:)

I saw the last few minutes of the Barnsley v Chelsea match on the BBC last night, and for a moment I thought Motty was going to mimic the famous 1966 World Cup commentary when he started talking about "some people on the pitch" only to then quickly condemn the over-enthusiastic Barnsley supporters who mistook an offside decision for the final whistle and started a premature pitch invasion in the Chelsea half. Kenneth Wolstenholme would have been amused.

Oh yes, and come on Aberdeen! :D

I manged to catch some of the FA Cup action after the Milan-Empoli match was finished this morning. The United and Portsmouth game was certainly wild. I can't believe how many golden chances that didn't go in for United. Portsmouth was battered but they held on all the way towards the end.

Aberdeen 1-1 Celtic. Replay at Fortress Parkhead. :( That darn Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink...

Still, I'm watching a cracking Bristol Rovers v WBH match right now. :D

Man Utd back in the race after Arsenal drew 0-0 with Wigan and there is only 1 premier League club left in the FA CUP...A weekend of surprises

West Brom mullered Bristol Rovers 1-5

So it's WBA, Barnsley, Pompey and Cardiff.

I want Barnsley to win the cup.

What a great weekend for football, roll on an FA Cup final devoid of Arsenal, Liverpool, Man Utd or Chelsea.

Cardiff vs Barsley? Anything has to be better than last season's bore fest between two of the supposed best teams in the Prem!

I was going to stick up a new thread but with the lack of threads in this room, I will wait till thursday night to coincide with the Champions League draw on friday lunchtime.

Liverpool vs. Inter this week and Liverpool hold a 2-0 advantage from the first leg. IMO I think Inter will play much better at home and will win but I think the score line will be 2-1 so Liverpool will go through. Even a 3-1 win would still see Liverpool through on away goals and with the form Torres is in, I do think Liverpool will score at least one goal.

With both Samuel and Cordoba out. Inter's defense is looking more shakier now than it was during the first half of the season. Chivu and Burdisso will probably be the CBs with Matrix on the bench where he belongs. However Burdisso is only half-fit so it might be better to go with Rivas and Chivu. The same can be said about Ibra since he is also coming back from a knock. Crespo and Suazo would the most in-shape forward pairing but Mancini will go with Ibra and Crespo. Inter needs an early goal and some how keep Torres in check. 2-0 will take it to extra time where they can force Liverpool to come out of their back. It's the only chance they have. Vieira might be more fit this time or else Inter midfield will still be as stagnant as it was in the first match. Perhaps Mancini should try out players like Pele instead of Stankovic.

Flamini to Milan a done deal? Apparently words out of Italian TV stations is that this is as done as the Zambrotta to Milan move. I could see Flamini becoming the next Deschamp. :D

Essentially the report says that Flamini isn't satisfied with the 2 million Euros per year contract offered by Arsenal. Milan in the mean time offered 3.5 millin Euros with Juve also in the bidding action. I doubt the truthfulness of the report myself but hey this summer's transfer season will possibly be the first exciting one for Milan in awhile. The report also says Milan is looking at GK Sebastian Frey from Fiorentina.

Wenger will say to Flamini show your love for Arsenal or GO because he won't pay over the odds to keep Flamini at the club and rightly so. Am sick of players saying I love this club and then saying oh and I would like £100,000 a week.

If I was at a club that I enjoyed playing I would care less about being one of the top earners in the club and more about results on the pitch. At a top 4 club who could pay you £70,000 to £120,000 grand a week, I would be more than happy at £50,000 because like you can't spend that amount a week anyway.

I'm the same. Trouble is you'd have an agent whispering in your ear about how someone else at the club is on £120,000, and how he could get you £90,000 if you sign for Everton etc etc

If the quoted figures are correct then Arsenal is only offering Flamini £30,000 a week. Yeah I know that is still a huge number for you and me but by a footballer's standard especially one who is playing at an elite level that is not a lot. Milan is just offering the norm i.e. £50,000 a week.

I would do a Paul Scholes and have no agent but then again footballers tedn to have them because they aren't too smart guess that explains why am not a Pro footballer, too high an IQ :p

Yes I would love to be Paul Scholes. You know being ginger and making £90,000 a week all the while putting fear into the opposition with pinpoint passes and nasty tackles. :p

Bit disappointed Pompey drew WBA in the cup as of the teams left I think they are the best. Hopefully our experience will win through and we'll be into the final :bolian:

Two UEFA cup games today went down all the way to penalties. I caught a bit of the Everton/Viola game. It was like a mirror image! Everton could've scored 5 or 6 as the same thing can be said for Fiorentina in the first leg.

I'm happy to see Everton knocked out.

Shame about Spurs.

I think Bayern Munich will win the UEFA Cup.
