So who should play Kirk

Trevok

Lieutenant Commander
Red Shirt
Now Quinto is cast as Spock who do you think should play Kirk?
My choice if the cast someone else from TV Tom Welling from Smallville.

Yeah. He's just a terrific actor. I was mesmerized by his performance in the remake of The Fog. Good thinking. Congratulations.

NO, he will always be regonise as Superman/Clark Kent.
Also he is taller then Qunito and actor paying Kirk need to be shorter

This has gotta be a joke. Welling as Kirk? He has NOTHING in common with the character of Kirk except that he's got a y-chromosome...

I refer you to all my previous posts on all the previous boards that have discussed this topic.....
Let's face it, they've probably picked someone already. Half of us will think - "Wow, how great, what an interesting bit of casting...." and the other half will say, "No, not now, not ever. He can never be Kirk and I will not go to see this film..."......but we'll all go in the end because of we are all satellites of planet Trek, irresistably drawn to it in all its forms and interpretations. And the guys making the damn things know it, and count on it.

Eion Bailey or Michael C. Hall

Let's face it, they've probably picked someone already.

I think that, too. They're just drawing out the drama by pretending otherwise. Abrams is already working with Eion Bailey on some HBO show about cancer survivors, how can he possibly not see that he's got a perfect Kirk doppleganger, right age, right height, talented actor, looks more like Shatner than any other actor of that age I've seen yet, right in front of him? Bailey is right for Kirk in the same way Quinto was right for Spock, it all fits.

People,

I tend to think, too, that they've already picked their Kirk. But what harm is there in speculating?

I think Guy Pearce would be a good choice, myself. He's a terrific actor and has the ability to play a character who's a bit mischievious, which is how I see Kirk.

Another crazy thought: Anthony Michael Hall. Sure, his hair is lighter, but if you can have a blond Bond, why not?

Red Ranger

Guy Pearce is too skinny and Anthony Michael Hall is too bulky. Ryan Reynolds doesn't look remotely like Shatner and he's ugly to boot. The fact they went to the trouble to cast a Nimoy doppleganger as Spock tells me they're going for someone who at least a passing resemblance to a young Shat.

But the hair color isn't an issue; easy enough to fix that in hairdressing.

I hardly think Quinto is a doppleganger. He and Nimoy have some similar features, but their faces have a lot of differences too. I don't think anybody would mistake Quinto for Nimoy, even in the makeup.

Anthony Michael Hall?!? Was that serious? At first I thought you meant Michael C. Hall and just had a moment of brain freeze. From '80s UberGeek and Molly Ringwald stalker to Captain James T. Kirk... I think not. I don't care what he looks like now or what he's done since the John Hughes days... I'd never see anyone but The Geek.

Anthony Michael Hall as Kirk??? So Judd Nelson is Bones, Jon Cryer is Checkov and Andrew McCarthy is Scotty?

Anthony Michael Hall as Kirk? Hmmmm....

Well, then, they could have Kelly LeBrock play the main computer... obviously in hologram form...

Say, didn't someone already do that one? ;)

I must be precognitive, then because the first thing I thought when I saw Zach Quinto playing that CTU guy on 24 (the one who used to fight with Chloe all the time) about three years ago was "hey if they ever want to recast Spock as a younger guy, there's your guy..."

So of all the hundreds if not thousands of actors I've seen in the years since, I just happened to correctly guess the one who Abrams was going to pick for Spock, despite his scanty resemblance to Nimoy? Damn I'm good! :D I should head for Vegas.

So you saw a resemblance; good for you. But they're hardly twins. And I'll believe you're precognitive if they cast Eion Bailey as Kirk. ;)

I agree with Temis about Bailey. not only does he LOOK like a young Shatman, he even shares a close birthday thingie with Quinto! (okay, fine, a week between them in June, though different years as opposed to Shatner and Nimoy being the SAME year in March 1931).

and the heights match too.

I dunno but my bet's on Bailey. his eyes, his mouth, that slightly distant, romantic look and yet that determined cast to his jaw. Temis we need to find one of those romantic Kirk photos. ;)

plus, Abrams' probably been watching him closely lately.

I like Jensen Ackles... he's a good actor... but not as Kirk.
