So what's up with the trailer Enterprise proportions?

Well, like others I have a couple (unfinished) model sitting around and yeah, looking at the shots, these are pretty unrealistic views if this is to have even the most remote shape of the original.
I figure it is pretty much like the shots I hated so much in ST:TMP (example shown above).
Which is the same conclusion I've reached (and why I've stopped attempting to gain any more info from this teaser).

BLAH, I hated that matte from TMP, so glad it's gone now.
Poportions are way off, just compare to the later shot of the miniture itself from more or less the same camera angle.
Which I personlly think was the insperation for the teaser of the new film as the camera is in REAL close to the ship.
I was thinking what might be going on is a sort of fish-eye lense distortion with the new / old ship, possibly ?

It's good to share information, but it's definitely slightly... annoying... when someone comes along and says "I have all sorts of information, but I can't show it to you." Trust me when I say that you're not the first person to go there, and some of the nastiest flame-wars I've seen on here have involved just that sort of claim (specifically regarding supposedly "secret" information about Enterprise designs, both original and "updated" types).
So whenever someone comes along and says "I have these cool official Paramount Pictures Corporation laser-scanned files from the original 1701 miniature... so I know the shape better than you do... but I WILL NOT SHARE THEM, HAH HAH!" people get pissed.
Yeah, I know that's not what you were doing. But it had just enough of a resemblance that I can easily see why people would react a bit... oh, HARSHLY?
It's better to simply say "we were forbidden to take pictures" and leave it at that.
I just read on TrekWeb, that screen rant reported that <sigh> there will be alternate timelines shown, including one with a decked out Enterprise war ship. That could explain our distorted teaser Enterprise.

I think this picture is really telling. If we take those details in the exposed bridge area literally, they look like decks only half as big as they would be on the regular ENT. Of course, since this isn't a real image we can't be sure, but it looks like the ship is really big.

I think some folks may not be putting their full attention into their posts. Or are really bad typers.

Has it occurred to anyone that there’s no reason we won’t see the classic Enterprise in this movie? Everything has been kept under such strict security that we can’t say for sure. Recent rumor reports indicate there could be more than one variant of the Enterprise shown because of alternate timelines. I don’t recall any of the Abrams staff saying the Enterprise in the trailer is the be-all-end-all version that would appear in the movie, but feel free to correct me if I’m wrong.
Although I don’t expect it, I wouldn’t be surprised if the TOS Enterprise at least makes an appearance, if not taking its place as the definitive version. There are a variety of reasons that Abrams and company keep things under such tight lock and key, but I’m sure one of them is that they have surprises (particularly to the fans) that they don’t want to get out. What would be a bigger surprise at this point that to see the real 1701?
