So what's up with the trailer Enterprise proportions?

^ debush #3, I presume?

Couldn't be. He was banned. :wtf:

Well, to be fair, he did come back twice after getting the ban, and subsequently got another flame warning.

Well, at least he seems to be okay in his latest reincarnation. I bet you 2 dollar that he'll be okay from now on.

Is this thread still about the proportions? There hasn't been anything really new lately, and I have nothing productive to contribute. As usual.

The report from ToyFair Germany seems to confirm that the nacelles are bigger in proportion to the rest of the ship than in the past, as is suggested by the trailer.

Heres a quick 3d Mesh ive knocked up to ROUGHLY represent propotions. Everything here has been eyeballed so nothing is entirely accurate. Ive based the secondary hull on what's been said about it (larger cutout etc).

This is the type of thread that makes me feel that the general public is correct in thinking that anyone who likes Star Trek is a dork.

Well, he HAS captured the way it looks in the trailer pretty closely there. I'm convinced that they "tweaked" appearances in the trailer... with the nacelles rendered separately... and "shaked" it all together. There are a few things with the lighting between the different elements that just don't strike me as "all in one pass." It's hard to put into words, exactly, though.

I suspect that the trailer's shot is done for visual impact much more than for technical accuracy.. including getting scales WAAAAY off in some places.

Let's hope that the warp nacelles won't look just that big...

I agree, They seem grossly oversized compared to the rest of the ship. Just speculating here, but they could be temporary nacelles seen in an early version of the E. Maybe they are alternate time line nacelles. Maybe the model at the toy fair is sporting temporary nacelles while they continue to finish the production model?

I like the renders though- they really point out the scale issues with the nacelles.

I think so too, and it disturbs me.

I so hope you're right, otherwise the Enterprise will look more like a toy than a starship.

Those do look too big in comparison to the rest of the ship. I was hoping for proportions similar to the Koernerprise, myself.

We'll see soon enough. Either way, it's not a dealbreaker.

I think big nacelles are coolio. The original starship always had the biggest, why not capitalize on the that. ;p

I still like Ralph Mcquarrie's designs. Poor Ralph, he only worked on Star Wars, and was eaten by ten mediocre predatorary art designers.

I'm sorry but the new ship is hysterical. The nacelles look loike boobs in space fixed and dilated, sort of like their perception of fandom.
