So, what's Garak up to these days?

I just started my multi-year reading plan to get caught up with all of the relaunches and get up-to-date with my Trek lit. I started with DS9: A Stitch in Time, which I'd heard has kind of become the unofficial start of the DS9 relaunch, even though the relaunch didn't technically start until the Avatar novels that followed it.

I thoroughly enjoyed learning more than I ever dreamed I would about the Garak character. It makes me wonder, does Garak appear in any of the DS9 relaunch novels, or is he mentioned in any way? I'm just curious if he's still active out there somewhere but I'm not really looking for any spoilers. I'm just curious if I'll learn anymore about my favorite Cardassian tailor as I read over the coming months.

Thanks.

Yes, you will. He's mentioned a few times across a couple of different series in multiple timeframes, not very often, but his appearances are... memorable.

Relatedly, does anyone know the title of that book in which Sisko and Garak head to Earth to answer charges for "In the Pale Moonlight"? I'd swear to having heard of it.

Thanks for the info guys. From what I've heard, Hollow Men excepted, it sounds like Garak is mentioned more than he's so much a character in any of the novels I have ahead of me. Still, it's nice to know I'll get to learn some more about him and keep up with where his life is heading.

Before I read Hollow Men, I'll have to get to the library and pickup the DVD set with the pivotal episode because I'm ashamed to say that, after eleven or twelve years I don't remember anything at all about "the incident." I guess my kids are right, I am getting old!

Thanks again for the info guys. I'm a couple of chapters into Avatar, Book One and really enjoying it!

He does make a few appearances in the books. I think he's in to or three of the DS9 books, and then he's in a couple books after the DS9 books.

It's not technically a DS9 series, but Garak does appear in the "Destiny" trilogy, playing a fairly big role (though it's seen through the POV of a character who doesn't know Garak quite as well as we-the-audience do). Notable because it clearly answers the question of just what Garak is up to in 2381.

Aside from that, his biggest scenes come toward the end of "The Never-Ending Sacrifice" (kinda setting up his appearance in Destiny, actually).

You should also make sure to read Worlds of Deep Space Nine: Cardassia. It stars Miles & Keiko O'Brien and Garak, pretty much.
