Currently reading: Star Wars: Dark Lord: The Rise of Darth Vader.

Hoping to read To Brave The Storm, Star Wars: Shadow Games, and Rise Like Lions very soon.

It was either break my book's back or go e-book. I do too much reading one-handed, and it was killing my hands and threatening to damage my book. What can I say - I'm weak!

Too many pages? I'm into Game Of Thrones, now *that* has too many pages!

As someone who's just about to finish the last Game of Thrones book that's likely to be released for several years, I'd argue that there aren't enough pages for my taste. Another couple thousand on top of Dance with Dragons and I'd be OK with that. ;)

About halfway through Dresden #4: Summer Knight, and in the wake of the Great Dragonlady's death, I might begin a re-read of the Dragonriders of Pern.

Anne died? :(
It was confirmed yesterday afternoon. Anne McCaffrey died of a stroke in her home, Dragonhold Underhill, November 21, 2011. Todd let Random House tell the world after notifying close family and friends.

There's confirmation across the net now.

A sad day for science fiction and fantasy.

Just finished J.M. Dillard's hardcover The Lost Years. Here is my review.

Now I'm reading Michael A. Martin and Andy Mangel's Excelsior: Forged in Fire to fill up time before I can get David Mack's Rise Like Lions.

I'm also reading Russell: A Short Introduction, all about the life and philosophy of Bertrand Russell.

Finished : 11/22/63 (review below)
Reading : A Dance with Dragons

Review 5/5 stars easy

King has really hit a home run with this story, and this after already coming out with a couple other home runs in the last couple years with Duma Key and Under the Dome. Still, as good as both those were, neither of them really came close to being as compelling, poignant or as thrilling as the heights King reaches in his latest masterpiece, especially given the controversial nature of the ending of the Under the Dome for some. (Personally I wasn't bothered by it but it didn't do much for me either). While I've been a life long fan of Kings for his ability to tell gripping, suspenseful and often scary stories, it's his ability to develop very believable characters that I love and can relate to that keep me coming back for more. In 11/22/63, he creates a set of characters in Jodie, Texas that are among his finest creations since the Dark Tower series or The Stand.

While I won't spoil any thing about the story itself because it wasn't at all what I thought it might be going into the story, I will say that much like the main character in this book, I'm not a person who cries often and very few stories have the power to move me to that level of emotion, but this story did just that and not just once, but several times throughout the book. It's a true testament to the wonderful character's he's created here and this one is going to stick with me for quite a while.

I don't really have any complaints of any kind about the book which is a rare thing for me as well, though the book didn't surprise me as much as a King book usually does. Still, given the themes running throughout the story, I guess it's not that surprising that the events that unfolded were not exactly unexpected. The story has many powerful moments from the tragic, to the uplifting, the romantic to the devastating and everything in between and manages to keep the story at a pace that makes the 850 page story feel about half as long. I won't go into any more detail than what I've talked about to this point because I really think the book is best read without any expectations going into it, just know that this is among King's finest works that truly anyone who enjoys a well crafted story can enjoy.

now I am reading star wars choices of one by Timothy Zahn.

I bought and am about to read David Mack's Rise Like Lions! Was pleasantly surprised to see that Chapters had copies in early.

The Chronoliths by Robert Charles Wilson

One day in Thailand, 21st-century slacker Scott Warden witnesses an impossible event: the violent appearance of a 200-foot stone pillar. Its arrival collapses trees for a quarter mile around its base. It appears to be composed of an exotic form of matter. And the inscription chiseled into it commemorates a military victory…sixteen years hence.

As more pillars arrive all over the world, all apparently from our own near future, a strange loop of causality keeps drawing Scott into the central mystery—and a final battle with the future.

I just finished Voyager: Full Circle. It was pretty good, it fleshed out the characters of the show and made them seem a bit more real than the series ever did. I still don't really care about them though. I am sure I will read Voyager: Unworthy.

Currently reading the lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch

Just finished The Alloy Of Law, by Brandon Sanderson. Just riotously asskicking; absolutely fantastic.

Continuing on with my re-read of the TNG relaunch. Just wrapped up Star Trek Titan: The Red King. Wasn't too bad. Even though I enjoyed Taking Wing more. Onto Star Trek Titan: Orion's Hounds. Can't wait to start this one. I remember enjoying it immensely. I'm gonna read all the books in their original publication order.

i'm switching gears. I just started watching DS9 from the beginning, thanks to netflix. So i'm gonna start reading all the DS9 novels, in publication order. About halfway through #1 Emissary.
