So what are you reading? Part VI

I just finished The fall of Hyperion by Dan Simmons. It was good, not quite up to the standard set by the first book. I am unsure if I will come back for Endymion.

Last night I started Voyager: Full Circle. I don't like Voyager, but everyone on the boards had been raving about what Kirsten Beyer has done with the series.

I've only read Hyperion - don't know if I will try Fall of...

Kirsten's taken a poor series and some unlikeable characters (not to mention some truly dire early relaunch novels) and turned it into possibly the best / most enjoyable part of Treklit at the moment.

Enjoy !

I hope you enjoy it. It was my first Voyager book ever (not counting any crossovers like Destiny) and since I've read several of the relaunch and several of the old numbered ones.

I finished SCE: Foundations yesterday. I'm now reading Against the Tide of Years by S.M. Stirling, the second novel in the Nantucket series.

As of earlier this week, I began a massive undertaking. Beginning with Star Trek Titan: Taking Wing, i plan to blast through all the TNG/VOY relaunch books in publication order.
About little over half way through Taking Wing. This book is even better than I remember.

I've started reading the section 31 series of books finished the TOS and TNG ones and just cracked the DS9 book the more I read t more I think a section 31 tv series would not be such a bad idea. Also is there any other books where 31 appears or atleast mentoned?

ENT:The Good That Men Do, Kobayashi Maru
TOS: The Case of the Colonist's Corpse
Articles of the Federation

some others...

I'm only a few chapters in, but Double Helix #3: Red Sector is a most atypical Trek book. Fighter pilots, armoured Starfleet Ensigns tasked with an evacuation during a riot.... Also, it's a Diane Carey book and yet sailing hasn't come up once!

Currently giving The Hunger Games a run through.

After that, I have an Atlantis novel, several Tess Gerritsen novels and some of the Sword of Truth series to carry on with.

After the 29th, I'll also be adding Rise Like Lions by David Mack to the list:)

Just finished up To Brave the Storm. I found it better than the first "Romulan War" novel, but it was just okay and not great. I think a lot of that has to do with the tortured twisting of circumstance to adhere to canon established in "Balance of Terror". I understand why it had to be done, but it still was vaguely painful. Plus, it was very evident that lots was cut from this book when the decision was made to merge the last two books in the trilogy into a single book.

Now reading Split Second by David Baldacci.

*sigh*

Full Circle has pushed me to the dark side.

I broke down and bought the e-book.

It just had too many pages! :wah:

I finished Grave Peril, Dresden #3 and now partway through #4, Summer Knight, which continues quite soon after #3.

And what is wrong with too many pages?

Still on Open Secrets, just finished the court marshal scene and like I thought, it has improved and sped up greatly.

Next up, Precipice which is on my bed side table awaiting to be cracked open!

[in creepy Palpatine voice, while rubbing hands together ala Mr Burns]: Everything is proceeding as I had foreseen.

Embrace the dark side. We have better Christmas parties!

Too many pages? I'm into Game Of Thrones, now *that* has too many pages!

But tomorrow, in honour of Dr Who's anniversary, I shall break off to zip through The Monsters Inside, which I picked up in a charity shop today, and will be only the third NSA I've read... (or fourth, if you count having listened to audiobook of one)

And that's nothing, the 5th book in the series, A Dance With Dragaons, has 1040 pages in hardback. And judging by the others it'll be another 200-300 pages when it comes out in paperback.
