Eyes of the Beholders by A.C. Crispin was pretty entertaining. I think she captured the spirit of the season pretty well. Another abrupt ending, which I suppose I should expect from novels that emulate television episodes. At least there aren't any commercials.
The story had a lot of heart in it, and I liked how the author satirized her own writing experiences through Data's attempts at writing 'fiction that appeals to a wide audience'.
I was saddened to discover she passed last year.

Read "Saratoga" by Friedman and almost one-third of the way through "Death in Winter" by Friedman. Also read "Mindfulness in Plain English" (20th anniversary edition) by Bhante Gunaratana (2011). Recently got subscription video service and am watching "Doctor Who" (new series) for the first time also watched "Trek Nation" (2011) and am thinking about the idea that a species can have a childhood and then more adult years. Is it such a thing as galactic efficacy?
Finished out DTI: Watching the Clock. What a great read. Went places I wasn't expecting and resolved a story arc I didn't think ever would be! Fantastic stuff. I've recommended it a few times today to Trek fans looking to get back into the books.
Moving on to The Martian by Andy Weir next. And then I think I'll tackle Children of the Storm.

That's a solid couple of choices, there. Both those books are great!
I just finished Startrek Articles of the Federation by Keith DeCandido was a excellent read.I'm now reading The Spy by Joseph Conrad based on a true story in the 1800s.It's an really interesting story about spies wanting to destroy the Greenwitch obsevervatory.
Bought the two Department of Temporal Investigations books last week.
Look forward to reading them in a few books time.
I thought Children of the Storm was a great read.
Has some nice focus on the other ships & crews of the fleet.

Last night I finished Star Trek: Titan: Absent Enemies by John Jackson Miller.
Today I read the Fable short story "Reaver" by Peter David.

Forgot to mention that I had also been working my way through Diplomatic Implausibility by Keith R. A. DeCandido before I started Tower of Babel. Managed to get my hands on a bunch of older Trek novels recently after finding out a friend of a friend from work was looking to clear out some of his books (which he had just sitting around taking up space in his basement).Started Rise of the Federation: Tower of Babel by Christopher L. Bennett earlier today.
Anyway, I was in kind of a Klingon mood, so I decided to read Diplomatic Implausibility first. Finished it earlier tonight, thought it was a lot of fun. Now I'm focusing completely on Tower of Babel, which I'm about halfway through.
i've got a ton of trek reading in front of me. I took a break away from the Post-Nemesis stuff for a few years. The last stuff i read was Destiny. I would buy them, stock up on them, just never really be in the mood to read them. So now I'm diving into all the Voyager books, starting with Full Circle. After that, its on to Typhon Pact, TNG: Cold Equations, and the Fall.
4 years ago, i had found all of the old numbered TOS books, from The Motion Picture, all the way to In the Name of Honor. So over the years ive been working through those.

That's funny you took a similar break from the books to me.
I stopped at Destiny a few years ago and just started back in to reading them recently.
Just finished catching up on Voyager a few weeks ago.
(Although I stopped after reading Children of the Storm to give myself a few more Voyager books to read down the line.)
Really enjoyed them.
Currently catching up on Titan books.
Then I want to read all the DS9 books after Unity.
After that it's on Typhon Pact, Cold Equations and eventually The Fall.

I just finished reading Star trek DTI Forgotten History by Chritopher L. BenettIt's a .Great story I really enjoyed reading a novel that takes place during the movie era.Also finished Articles of the Federation I really like Nan Bacco's first year as president.Next book I want to read Enterprise Tower of Babel.
