So What Are you Reading?: Generations

^You mention in your review how little was added to the adaptations. The first few Blish volumes took a lot more liberties with the stories, adding some interesting new ideas; for instance, it was in Blish's "Tomorrow is Yesterday" adaptation in Star Trek 2 that 40 Eridani was first proposed as Vulcan's home star. But the later adaptations became much more screen-accurate, largely due to complaints from the fans (yes, Trekkies have always been complaining about continuity). Also, I gather the later volumes were largely ghostwritten by Blish's wife J.A. Lawrence, though I'm not sure how extensive that was or when it began, if it's even so.

I've finally started The Fall: Revelation and Dust. And we begin with an extended flashback to "The Emissary" giving me flashbacks to Ship of the Line's endless holodeck sequence where Picard watched "Balance of Terror". Not a good start. Fingers crossed things pick up.

I recently finished Treecat Wars by David Weber Star Trek: The Fall: The Poisoned Chalice by James Swallow.

Revelations and Dust wasn't bad at all...I really liked it. But after reading the following 3 books, i'd have to put R&D at the bottom. That's how good the rest The Fall has been :techman:

Yesterday I finished Star Trek: The Fall: A Ceremony of Losses by David Mack. This is my favorite in the miniseries so far. Looking forward to the last two.

I then read the short story "The Transition of Juan Romero" by H.P. Lovecraft.

I'm now reading Royal Pains: Sick Rich by D.P. Lyle.

Read the first three Fall books. I enjoyed the series more as it went along. I'm about a third of the way through Rise of the Federation then I'll move on to the 4th Fall book.

In the last week I've read The Fall: The Poisoned Chalice, Monk's Hood, and A Caribbean Mystery. Currently reading Carrie's Run, and about to start in on SQL Server 2012 Internals.

A little off topic-ish, but we're expecting an awful snow and ice storm in a day or so, and for multiple reasons, it makes more sense for me to ride out the storm at my parents's house. So what's the first thing I do when I've decided to camp out there - with a possibility of losing power for an extended period?
Pack a ginormous bag full of Trek books :) I'm doing an ongoing marathon read of Trek books, so I'll be reading more of the Errand of Vengeance/Fury books as well as many more TOS era books.

Finished reading Socialism: Past and Future by Michael Harrington. Was trying to read The Hobbit, but had major trouble getting past the first forty pages. Took some time out to read The Fall: The Poisoned Chalice by James Swallow. Have now found myself engrossed in War Is A Force That Gives Us Meaning by Chris Hedges. Also picked up copies of Empire of Illusion (also by Hedges) and the tenth anniversary edition of No Logo by Naomi Klein. Debating between these three after I finish War.

Just finished VAN #8 Storming Heaven. Vanguard was an amazing ride! Truly unique treklit, and it made me love the 5YM era. I guess i'm down for any series that fleshes out the time period, but doesn't feature the TOS crew in the forefront. I look forward to Seekers and the further exploration of the Taurus Reach.

Just reading some comics until Peaceable Kingdoms arrives. Maybe i'll finally pick up NF: Blind Man's Bluff instead of the comics...

I just barely started reading Dead Beat, the 7th novel in The Dresden Files at work today. I think I read about 1 paragraph during the last couple minutes of my break.

Finally started Witches of East End. I'm enjoying it so far . . . and having fun comparing it to the TV show.
