So What Are you Reading?: Generations

There's a hot dog chain in America? In my experience, it's hard to find fast food places that even serve hot dogs, except for chili dogs (which are big in Cincinnati). So I don't know what you're referring to here.

Maybe they are referring to Weinerschnitzel? They have a few of them here in Arizona.

I am of course referring to "Der Wienerschnitzel." Although in recent years, they dropped the "Der"; maybe somebody noticed that it's grammatically incorrect, and should be "das Wienderschnitzel." Of course, if it were named after what they actually served, it would be "die Wienerwurst" (or more likely, "die Frankfurterwurst").

And KRAD, I was under the impression that traditional Italian pizza (e.g., a Margherita) was easy enough to find in Italy, at least in Naples and Sicily. It's American style pizza that's apparently not so common.

Fun fact: I've had pizza exactly twice in my life. The first time was about a year ago, just outside Yosemite, and the second time was less than a month ago, a few miles from my office; both times, I had a chicken Alfredo pizza with onions and garlic (and in the latter case, basil, which turned out to be a few fresh whole leaves).

There's at least one fast food chain place, which has several locations in Arizona, called Wienerschnitzel.

Ahhh! Ninja'd.

I'm guessing you aren't based in the Southwestern US. Or in Washington, Louisiana, Illinois, Guam, or Panama.

Why would a hot dog chain name itself after a Viennese style veal cutlet?

Be that as it may, I'm down to the last tale in that Arabian Nights book. And I'm also reading a couple of Model Railroader special issues, concurrently.

I think that, strictly speaking, "wiener" refers to the sausage itself and "hot dog" to the sandwich consisting of the sausage in a bun (and yes, of course it's a sandwich, despite the silly Internet debate; if a sub/hoagie can be a sandwich despite the bun not being fully split, then so can a hot dog). But in practice, they've long since become interchangeable.

I finished Star Trek: The Original Series: My Brother's Keeper: Constitution by Michael Jan Friedman.
I then read Star Trek: The Original Series: My Brother's Keeper: Enterprise by Michael Jan Friedman.
I'm currently reading Star Trek: The Original Series: Constellations: "Make-Believe" by Allyn Gibson.

I decided to take a break from ST: The Badlands Book 2 and STTOS: Elusive Salvation, and read the first collection of the Buffy The Vampire Slayer reboot comic written by Jordie Bellair, art by Dan Mora, colors by Raul Angulo, and letters by Ed Dukeshire. This is the first thing I've ever borrowed from my library's digital service.

E:TFA.
Given that I've just read Mr. Bennett's take on Kirk's first mission, and I do miss Lindy and her vaudeville troupe (especially the equiraptor), and in memory of Ms. McIntyre's passing,I felt it was time to re-read the one opus from her that I remember really liking.

Sulu has just complained about being assigned to the Enterprise, instead of his requested border patrol assignment, and Agovanli (has anybody figured out what his species is?) has just gotten himself roaring drunk, trying to get Kirk roaring drunk.

Finally got around to reading Kirk's "autobiography." Enjoyed it very much, especially the early parts before he takes command of the Enterprise and becomes the Captain Kirk we know.

Janice Lester seemed conspicuously missing, but I can't really blame Kirk (or his "editor") for wanting to forget about her. :)

I finished reading Star Trek To Storm Heaven. My favorite scene in the book was Dr. Crusher giving Alexander a hamster for a pet and Data telling him Fido was a good name for a pet.:guffaw::techman:
