So What Are you Reading?: Generations

Also just finished Star Trek (1) by James Blish. Old schoolin’ it hard.

Blish did a LOT of work trying to paper over the nonsensical science of the early episodes. He transforms Miri with some respectable science & medicine. He didn’t just transpose the scripts into prose; he clearly did research. I’m impressed.

Reading Star Trek 2 next.

Just posted my review of The Lost Era: The Sundered by Michael A. Martin and Andy Mangels. I read it years ago, but I feel like I enjoyed it a lot more this time around. I really got into the story of the Neyel, I found them a really interesting concept. Wanted to read this one again because we're going to be covering Titan: The Red King on an upcoming Literary Treks episode.

Enjoyed Firefly: The Magnificent Nine. I'm just about to start Tiamat's Wrath (The Expanse) by James S A Corey

The Making of Star Trek by Stephen Whitfield---I picked up a used copy at bookstore a few years back (a first edition from 1968 BTW) and I've heard a lot about it--esp. about it being sort of a foundational book about Star Trek back then.

Interesting to read a reference book that was written contemporaneously to the series.
