So What Are you Reading?: Generations

House of Silk: Pretty good Sherlock Holmes pastiche. Anyone is a fan will probaby enjoy it. If anyone is a major fan they will likely be able to spot a couple of the twists before the casual reader would. Only nitpick: the pointless inclusion of one famous character. It added nothing to the plot whats as far as I can tell.

The same author did an Agatha Christie pastiche called Magpie Murders that is ok, too.

p.s. If anyone is interested in some great Holmes adaptations and pastiches, I highly recommend the BBC radio series from the 90s produced by Bert Coules. All 60 original Holmes stories were adapted as The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, and more than a dozen excellent pastiches were later created for The Further Adventures of Sherlock Holmes.

I started reading Death of a Screenwriter by M.C Beaton.I finished this mystery it certainly has a complicated plot and a very complex story. I thought it was an intriguing mystery.

Finished up The Good Soldier and I'm moving on to The Dorrington Deed-Box

I finished up Star Wars: Poe Dameron Vol 1: Black Squadron on Thursday and have started ST:TNG: Double Helix Book Four: Quarentine by John Vornholt. I've actually had the paperback sitting unread on my bookshelf since it came out in 1999. I was finally motivated to actually read it after there was a reference to it in one of the The Fall book with Tom Riker.

Strange New Worlds vol 5. Borg tribbles and a sequel to Threshold. My God.

Favorite stories: Dementia in D Major, Efflorescence and Disappearance on 21st Street

The Poisoned Chalice

“She may just be attempting to belittle you for her own amusement.”

Nog is a lot like 1970s Spider-Man. You can team him up with almost any character and the story will just work somehow.

Up next: Captain Blood by Rafael Sabatini

Finished Firing Point. A bit different from the film(Hunter Killer) but I enjoyed it.

I'm now on the new Mass Effect novel, Annihilation by Catherynne M Valente.

I put Captain Blood on the backburner for a bit and read two by Dayton Ward instead. Peaceable Kingdoms and That Which Divides.

I finished Storm Front by "Richard Castle".
I then read:
Star Trek: Countdown to Darkness
Star Trek: Volume 6: After Darkness
Star Trek: Volume 7: The Khitomer Conflict

I'm now reading Star Trek: Khan.

Finished up Captain Blood. Have since read The Crimson Shadow. I also finished up SNW vol 6. I had been working on that one piecemeal for a few weeks.

"The Soft Room"
would have made an excellent setup for a full length novel, imo.

Unspoken Truth by M. Wander Bonanno
Miasma by Greg Cox
Scorched Earth by Una McCormack
