Agreed! I loved Jake in Rising Son and his subplot in this story.
After finishing off ENT: Uncertain Logic, and reading some talk about Crucible: Provenance of Shadows, I decided to pick up the Crucible book again after letting it sit there on my shelf with my bookmark at the halfway point. I skipped the alternate past sections (McCoy in 1930's/40's southern USA), and sped right through. Quite enjoyable 
. I may check out the rest of the Crucible trilogy after I get through some of the new graphic novels I got the other day.

I finished Uncertain Logic last night, and started The Needs of the Many. Now that I started playing STO, I got interested in the book that has been unread on my shelf for years 
Having a hard time with 'Chains of Command'. A couple chapters in, I realized that I'd already read it and didn't like it much the first time. This one is on the low end of Trek novels, stupid stinky chickens.
Looking forward to what ever comes next, guessing it will be Christopher's 'Uncertain Logic' based on recent positive reviews in here!

I've really been enjoying Typhon Pact: Paths of Disharmony. While having a slow start, it's nice to have these quiet scenes with the newer characters like Chen and Elfiki. And I'm relating so much with Picard having these scenes with the little guy, Rene, since i have a 2 year old son. i'm really enjoying those scenes. But now that the Enterprise has just gotten to Andor, i'm hoping the main plotline starts to pick up steam. I have a feeling this won't just be a quiet, peaceful little conference.
I like Picard as Daddy, too. I can´t picture him as father in the first TNG seasons though, but much has happened since then.
I just started with From History's Shadow by Dayton Ward. So far it's pretty interesting, though the first couple of chapters are a bit confusing. Supposedly it takes up elements from another Trek novel called Forgotten History, though it's meant as a standalone. I haven't read the latter so I hope I don't get lost here.
Been reading some of Stephen King, too - Misery, Pet Sematary, and IT. The latter was quite lengthy, so I'll take a break from him for awhile.

^The Forgotten History references in From History's Shadow are a very minor part of the mix. The opening chapters pick up directly after the ending of the TOS episode "Assignment: Earth," which I also referenced in Forgotten History. Dayton did what he could to reconcile his version with mine, but they don't really have much to do with each other.
I'm giving Prey by Michael Crichton a read at the moment.

Finished reading "The Diabolical Miss Hyde," which was quite the page-turner.
From a stylistic point of view, the author did something I'm not sure I've ever seen before. The main character is Eliza Jekyll, a.k.a. Lizzie Hyde. When she's Eliza, the book is written in the third-person, but when she's Lizzie, we're in first-person, and the prose segues back and forth, sometimes in single scene or paragraph, depending on which personality is in ascendance.
It works surprisingly well. You can always tell when Eliza is on the verge of turning into Lizzie, because the prose starts to segue into first-person. (And vice versa.) And it makes it easy to keep track of which version of the heroine you're reading about at any given moment.
Cleverly done.

Took me way too long to finish out Section 31: Disavowed. A little over a month. Not entirely sure why but I just couldn't groove to it. Perhaps too little Bashir and a feeling of overexposure on the Breen. I also generally despise the trope of putting characters on trial that Sci-Fi series seem so drawn to. Enjoyed it in the end, but I just never got past two chapters without moving on to something else.
I read the Q-Gambit arc of the Trek comic. Not bad, if a little bland. I felt like they played with the NuTrek characters pretty well and the DS9 characters felt more or less right, with one possible exception. The finish of the story felt odd, though. A little obvious and one of those "Why didn't they just do this to begin with?" situations.
I also finally got caught up on Star Trek/Planet of the Apes which is actually pretty damn enjoyable. It's by no means great, but it somehow manages to feel right and the classic crew feel very on point.
Started into DS9: The Missing this evening. Only through the first chapter, but something about it feels very different than Una McCormack's usual style. Still, I'm excited to see where it goes.

German Publisher Cross Cult has announced that there will be German translations of the Rise of the Federation ENT novels, although there are no publication dates yet. I didn´t know that several weeks ago. And I like Christophers novels as a rule.
