"Faith of our Fathers" by PKD. I'm sorta unmoved on whether a totalitarian state is run by some human asshole or a monster. Does it really matter?
Sounds a lot like what I experience with multi-volume ST novel-arcs that are published over a period of several months, unless I sit on the early volumes until just before the release of the final ones.I'm enjoying it so far, but, after a few chapters, I had to stop and look up a synopsis of the first book on-line, just to refresh my memory as to what happened in the previous novel and who all the characters were. The sequel seems to assume that you remember the first book vividly and don't need to be brought back up to speed on the story so far.
Don't Fear the Reaper by Stephen Graham Jones. The sequel to My Heart is a Chainsaw.

I'll probably pick that up as I seem to remember enjoying Chainsaw. I will have to read that first again though to make sure I'm not mixing it up with another I read around the same time.).
PD's Pike really only fits the Jeff Hunter Pike. And his Number One only fits Majel.
To be fair, Hunter's Pike was the only Pike when that book was written.

Although I've re-read some Pike fiction written before 2009 and found that it was easy to imagine Bruce Greenwood in the role, so the same might go for Mount now.
