Fifth Malazan book, Midnight Tides. A lot of social commentary on capitalism shaping a society's practices and culture.

I finished Star Trek: Voyager: Cloak and Dagger: Shadow of Heaven (Book 3 of 3) by Christie Golden. I thought the trilogy was pretty good, but it didn't need to be three books. The Alilann/Culilann/Chakotay/Paris storyline barely had anything to do with the main story and could have been cut out entirely without changing much. It's not that I disliked that storyline, in fact it was pretty good, but I just thought it was unnecessary. It felt like the author just needed something for Chakotay & Paris to do so she created an unrelated story for them. At least the Jekri Kaleh/Romulus plot tied into the main A-plot of the trilogy. Overall, I enjoyed the trilogy but feel it should have been a duology instead.

I then read Star Trek: Voyager: Distant Shores: "Command Code" by Robert Greenberger.

I then read the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: Fool's Gold comic collection. I thought the art was great and very detailed, but the story was just kinda meh.

I'm now reading Deadly Heat by "Richard Castle".

I finished a reread of the entire 1970's and 80's Eight Worlds series by John Varley. I read the 3 short story collections from that era which is all the shorter EW work and some unrelated stories then The Ophiuchi Hotline which was a great end the the series. This is one of my favorite series of all time.

I'm going to be reading Steel Beech and Golden Globe pretty soon. I've been on a Varley binge since I saw the release date for Irontown Blues.

I recently finished Christopher's ROTF: Patterns of Interference, and as the Picard Autobiography is coming out soon, I've gotten back into the Kirk autobiography. Loved this thing! Can't wait for the Picard book :)

Finished ENT: Patterns of Interference by @Christopher. Great read and continuation of the Rise of the Federation series. A lot of solid characterization.

ENT ROTF - Patterns of interference. So far enjoyable, although a bit preachy maybe cos its too close what is going on in the real world with our crazy leaders.

Except you might be preaching to the chior, how many Star Trek fans are extreme right wing/left wing nutters?
