So, no more barriers to (SPOILERS)

Yeah, but transvestites often like being called she. My point is, there's at least scope for alternative explanation wherever some smartarse pomo twatwriter tries to piss on the show's history with a glib line or two.

I wish you'd have been around back in 1976 when "The Deadly Assassin" aired and completely pissed all over the series established history with a glib line or two...

I choose to dismiss it out of hand.

Or else, dismiss it in hand. Maybe whatever-the-name-was had a taste for cross-dressing on a couple of goes.
I think Time Lords can tell the differnce between a Time Lady and a Time Lord in a dress.

yes but we both know that is not how the Doctor meant it. Its not like the Doctor said "well she, but only on the weekends"

Going back to my previous post, its possible that for SOME TimeLords gender is fluid, and they change often during a regernation, but as the Doctor is now on his 11th (or 12th) body, his gender is fixed as male, and as such Doctor Who fandom can go in a world, with sex changing timelords, but also a world where the Doctor will always be female.

welcome back bones, how i've missed you.

oh, wait. i didn't...
Have you ever tried holding down Shift while you type the first letter of each sentence?
having had a quick look at your signature, how about you stop taking the bait.

This thread is for the discussion of sex changing timelords, be it on the weekend on via regeneration, not people to bait you and your to rise to it.

Doesn't that assume that everybody would be against the idea? Make the next Doctor a black, lesbian in a wheelchair for all I care as long as the actor is good.

When will the doctor be a woman
When will the doctor not be white
When will the doctor be a tribble

etc etc

I am not overly keen on the idea of a female Doctor, but I think there is a way for people who want sex changing Time Lords, and the people who want the Doctor to always be male, to live in peace.

As long as the show continues to entertain me i don't really care which gender, race or alien species the doctor might regenerate into.

And if the show is still going in 20 years time i expect the Dr's regeneration to anything other than a humanoid looking male to have been old news by then.

I could say the same regarding you and the Delete key after every other key you press, but it STILL wouldn't be 1) any more amusing (as in, at all) and 2) any more likely to get a response beyond the mod one yours inspired.

Then there's no need for to reply in kind here, especially since you've already seen the moderator response. It doesn't matter who "started it" or when they did it, this has to stop now. Any more off-topic commentary like this and you get an infraction. You know the drill.

it also wont work, to do what you want it to do, you would have to use the backspace key. I teach IT classes a few days a week, I would like to invite you to come down, I deal with this kind of thing all the time.

For the mods, im correcting matthunter, not telling Bones to use backspace on his posts, I welcome posts by Bones.

The general objection in fandom is to the idea of the Doctor as a woman. To them -- and to me -- the Doctor is an inherently masculine character, and that shouldn't change. It's just who he is.

But, now we have conclusive proof that sometimes Time Lords do change sexes when they regenerate.

The simple solution?

Whether or not a Time Lord changes sex depends on their gender identification. If they self-identify as someone for whom gender and gender roles are fluid, they can change sexes. If, for that particular Time Lord, their gender-identifications and gender roles are a fixed part of their internal identity, they'll never change sexes when they regenerate, and the Doctor happens to be one of them; he'll always be male because he thinks of his sex as an inherent part of his identity.

There! Simple solution, everyone gets to go home happy. :)

I like the theory of timelords, in non-emergency situations, being able to choose their appearance. It fits with Romana and it fits with The Master's last regeneration (although we didn't see it, it fits his motivation of wanting a result).

Moffat already gave us a female Doctor in The Curse Of Fatal Death. :techman:

:D Proof again that we're already past the alleged regeneration limit. :D

The whole idea of a female Doctor isn't one that bothers me at all, but I'm more along the lines of what Sci explained - that the masculine nature is just part of who he is.

Meh, Tennant/Eccleston both said the regeneration could go wrong, Smith thought he was a girl for a moment after his regeneration and I assume that if he did change gender, it would be "going wrong". Though I hope it never ever happens.

Well, it is a complete body change, and it also fuzzles the mind (in some cases more extremely than others). If he feels his hair and goes "Fack me, am I a girl now or what?" (and it's really not that girlish a haircut), then it doesn't necessarily mean he can be a girl, but more that he's like "Woah, longer hair, what's gone on" and his scrambled post-regen brain is thinking out loud.

if you get the Doctor to the point where he has a new set of regenerations, you could have the episode after the regeneration feature a female Doctor fighting an unstable regeneration, which she has to give up, regernates again, and goes back to being a man.

I always thought about a story where Jenny has regenerations but someone like The Master for example tries to steal hers to extend his/their own life. Doctor stops the plan but not before Jenny fate is sealed and she gives the Doctor her lives but in doing so those regnerations can actually force a gender change since it came from a female.

Just a quick random thought I had one day on the loo
