So much kvetching about Janeway, no concern for poor ol' [SPOILERS]...

Re: So much kvetching about Janeway, no concern for poor ol' [SPOILERS

If you think that "Voyager" fans are not aware of whose names are on the list, you'd be wrong. It just adds to our reasons of not reading the current books, and lends credence to the opinion that Voyager characters are cannon fodder for the other imprints.

You know, if you actually read Full Circle, you'll find out how thoroughly wrong you are about that.

Actually read the book before they pass judgement:eek:? That's like a Catholic watching the DaVinci Code or Dogma before passing judgement...it's just not done sir! :rommie:
:guffaw: ha ha ha you're so funny....but, no. actually, there are many of us who are waiting to see what happens in FC. and, as a catholic, i saw both dogma and da vinci. in fact, my wife and i own dogma and love it. so put the paintbrush down and back away slowly.

I don't think anyone took that list thing seriously for a minute.

I did. Hopefully the list isn't bullshit. If it is, then it was just meant as a fake out, and was a waste of time...

It wasn't a fake out as such but war and the possible end of the federation is a chaotic time...

(this isn't aimed at you paris) What is getting increasingly boring here is the outrage of certain quarters about plot twists that haven't actually happened because they aren't reading the books and don't know what they are talking about.

We keep hearing that everyone is entitled to their viewpoint, it would be nice if was also an informed one.
there's something we actually agree on.

If you remember, when both movies came out, there was outrage from Catholic groups even though reps. from the groups had not even seen the movie yet, but they were passing judgement anyways. Not very Christian if you ask me:vulcan:. That's what i'm talking about. And don't worry, I wasn't beating on your little brother:rolleyes::rolleyes:...I'm also Catholic.

What is this paintbrush you speak of? Da Vinci's?

right. but you merely said catholics implying that it was all catholics instead of saying most or many or a lot.

yeah, i'm well aware of these "catholic" groups of which you speak like the catholic league and how they pass judgment on things about things they have little to no knowledge on. groups like these only reinforce the negative perceptions regarding catholics and catholicsm.

who's little brother are you talking about?

refers to a figure of speech...nevermind.

Re: So much kvetching about Janeway, no concern for poor ol' [SPOILERS

he meant the brush you're tarring all Catholics with.

Re: So much kvetching about Janeway, no concern for poor ol' [SPOILERS

who's little brother are you talking about?

Interestingly enough, it is also a figure of speech. It implies that an older brother can beat up his younger brother all he wants; but if some other kid tries to beat up the little brother, the older brother takes offence/kicks his ass. Why a paintbrush? I've never heard of that. Was it something popular in the crusades or the inquisition or some other horrific period? That would really suck...ouch!

Brit

Speak for yourself! I don't believe they're actually dead, and I'd rather a dead Janeway than lame ways to keep bringing her back ala Shatner with Kirk.
Yes I miss Janeway, so don't jump down my throat, but I can still read the earlier books with her.

Re: So much kvetching about Janeway, no concern for poor ol' [SPOILERS

Trek has been too safe a place for far too long. Death is random, and doesnt care if the person dead is your "favorite" or not. If they are indeed dead, it matters because its a familiar name, but theyre no more important than any of the planets and people killed by the borg.

Why a paintbrush? I've never heard of that.

You've never heard the expression "to paint with a broad brush," i.e. to describe a class of things in oversimplified, overgeneralized terms rather than acknowledging its variations and complexities?

The term "to paint with a broad brush", I have heard. It wasn't clicking in my head when he mentioned the brush originally. Now we're all on the same page :)
