So How Will Guinan Be Brought Back?

They would need to deal with the fact that Goldberg has aged like a regular human being since the last time we saw her in the role of Guinan, and not like an El-Aurian.

Kor
My father looked the same from his 20s to his 50s, then he kind of just aged all at once. Guinan's probably the same way. She looked the same way from her 200s to her 500s and then aged all at once...

... that or just suspension of disbelief. ;)

She hasn't aged that much. And Soran had white hair for ~70 years, so he was probably older than her and they do age ;)

You know, for someone who dislikes PIC so much, you sure post about it a lot.

It's allowed. For example me, I don't have much interest in this series but here I am reading what's going on. Perhaps there's something that might get some of us more interested?

About Guinan, if 'Picard' series treats Guinan as well as many other known TNG characters have been treated, Guinan won't be around much longer.

They haven't killed off any main or recurring TNG characters. Data already died in NEM, so that doesn't count (blame Nemesis for this, not Picard).

They've killed off Icheb, who was a VOY Character, Hugh (who only appeared in TNG twice), and that's it.

You're imagining the worst possible things about the series whether they're true or not. The truth is in the middle. It's not the extreme you're trying to paint it as.

Like what? Thus far I haven't see a lot of willingness to jump on board with Picard after one season.

Gotta love this, whatever I say, it will be twisted against me, but.... I'll say something anyway.

Not any main characters? Except the star of the whole show, the person it's named after.
Does it matter if it is a main or recurring character? This series just seems to like killing off TNG related characters.

Who died?
The clue is the title, Star Trek - Picard.

That's a philosophical argument. Patrick Stewart is still playing Picard next season. Whether or not he's mentally the same Picard is part of the debate. I accept Spock from TSFS as Spock. So I accept Picard in PIC as Picard.

Riker and Troi are still alive. They appeared in Picard. Geordi and Worf got a mention, so they're still alive too.

Like I said. The truth is in the middle.

Brent Spiner wanted Data to die (he didn't think he could continue playing him -- androids aren't supposed to age).

Philosophical or not, it is not Picard. It's a fancy machine.

That must have been about the dumbest reason for killing Data, if I'm not mistaken one episode mentions he would look older as time goes by.

Brent is still involved in the franchise (albeit now as Dr. Alton Soong).

It doesn't matter what we say; the mind is made up, and no evidence will change the opinion...

And then he came back, just like past Treks with Spock being the worst example. Also, Scotty in TOS. No one seems to mind that.

Like I've said before: Picard is a metaphor for Star Trek. It was dead, then it came back, and now there are exclamations by those who say it's something else.

I'm of the belief that they transferred Picard's consciousness into a synthetic body. It's not the same body, but it's the same mind. Our cells replace each other all the time. Technically, I'm not the same person as I was a year ago, physically. All my cells have been replaced. I have the same mind, but I'm in a different body. With Picard, they just took his mind and put it in a different body all at once instead of a little at a time.

When I hear "synthetic body", I think they made it to seem organic. Picard's not a robot. His body is more like tofu. He's a Tofu Human with the original Picard's mind.

I imagine that Guinan, as perceptive as she is, will be the first person to be able to tell if it's the same person when it comes down to what matters the most.

"We too are machines, just machines of a different type."

Most of your brain cells stay the same however, IIRC.

Exactly so. And for all the crying about "not real Trek" this is the exact same thing done in past Treks. Except its actually permanent. Yet, somehow, such a concept is an anathema to have it done to Picard.

I laugh only because that argument is so damn confusing...

Well they did make riker a acting captain and for some reason he felt the need to mention that to the romulans during the standoff. Lol

Hmm...I saw the thread title, had a perfectly good answer I wanted to post, but made the mistake to read the whole thread before posting (in case someone already gave my answer) and now I can't remember what I wanted to write...

Something about Guinan, I guess, and how she fits into the picture...
