I really liked season 1, and even I have to admit that I'm enjoying season 2 way more. Pike's command style, Tig Notaro's sarcastic smartass remarks, the bridge crew getting a little more screen time, Saru's character development, the David Bowie references, I could just keep going on.

Tilly's not dead she just vanished.

Was thinking of Southpark when I said that but she's too nice to do Kenny jokes.

I say yes. That's not to say that season one is bad, but it's a return to form in DSC, where they're actually exploring the unknown, primarily in three of the episodes. Anson Mount's Pike is a great addition (albeit probably temporarily) to the cast, not to mention of course some additional secondary characters like Jet Reno.

The scope of this season arc is quite astounding, and it leaves you wanting more. Not to mention of course some recent twists (such as like what happened to Saru). So far, they've delivered a classy product in the second season mixed with the modern energy, something that the Kelvin-verse films failed to do (though I will defend "Beyond").

The one sore spot is Georgiou, unfortunately. I don't know how the Klingon stuff really fits in with the rest. However, the writers have been pretty good at tying things together. Not to mention the little things (e.g. the Enterprise having a compliment of only 203 a la "The Cage").

I liked season one a lot as a show. I liked it pretty okay for a Star Trek show. Season 2 is the best of both worlds for me, so to speak. The quality seems to be increasing over time as well. I hope they maintain the stride.

I hope the rest of Season 2 can deliver. We're only four episodes in. I think I'm in the same boat about with others about "Point of Light" being the weakest, although I do relish the art direction done in it, especially on Qo'noS.
