So Does Ben Continue Being the Emissary

even though he's w/the Prophets or is another 'one' chosen?

If he comes back to human form, will he continue his Emissisarly role or will he be on a higher plane?

I think he remains the Emisarry. Bajor was without Emmisary for millions of yeasr before he came by, and it can be so again. He also said he would be coming back, so that's another reason to believe this.

In Christianity, Jesus didn't stop being the Messiah when he ascended into Heaven. Why would Sisko stop being the Emissary in "Bajoranity"/"Bajorism" just because he's ascended into the Celestial Temple?

He has not started to be the Emissary yet. In one episode, a fake Emissary appears. And it was stated that there was a prophecy that a man whose life was saved by the Prophets would then become the Emissary. There's only one moment where the Prophets save Ben Sisko's life. It's when he falls into the fire caves together with Gul Dukat at the end of the final episode.

They also saved him and the entire quadrant by making the Dominion fleet disappear in "Sacrifice of Angels".

I don't think that's the same. First he had to beg them to do that, and then they did not directly save his life. It fits What You Leave Behind much better.

They also saved his life in "Emissary" -- by forcing him to confront his emotional demons.

That's a bit loose interpretation of the term 'save one's life. By doing that, they only saved his career, and made his life better by helping him heal emotionally. But they did not save his life that time.

Who's to say that only the literal interpretation of "save his life" is valid? It's not as though the Prophets are well-known for being particularly clear and literal in their language choices.

You might want to watch Accession again. Sisko doesn't believe he's the Emissary. Prophets get pissed off with him and send Fake-Emissary to DS9 to force Sisko to come to terms with it.

Sisko's the Emissary since day one.

Isn't this the reason we have trek literature - to answer questions just like these?

Otherwise, whatever happens after the series (whether Ben continues to be the Emissary or not) is entirely up to your own preference, and therefore The Answers Lay Within! ;)

That's how I interpreted it.

I thought the prophecy was phrased that the Prophets would "give the Emissary his life back."

Isn't Sisko a Prophet since his mother was one? Why did his mother come to Earth?

Why would he leave his pregnant wife, son, father and DS9 behind? I thought that was so sad.
