So are they stuck in New York?

Has anyone heard whether Matt Smith, Karen Gillan and Steven Moffat were able to get back to the UK before the volcano screwed everything up? The night of the big screening was around the time we started to see reports that flights were being cancelled, wasn't it?

Possibly, I had some friend get back from Egypt on Wednesday at 23:30 hours a handful of hours before the great European lockdown occurred. To be honest, they are two people out of millions who can't travel, if they can't travel that is, so I haven't given it any thought. Plus New York's a brilliant place to be stuck, I can think of a lot of other places I'd rather not be.

Dammit, we need the Doctor back in Europe! I'm sure this volcano business is all really just part of a larger plan for the Rutans to use northern Europe as their new war base against the Sontarans!

Yesterday I was arranging a flight to Toronto for an upcoming holiday (I thought of the UK at one point, but the volcano was the deciding factor), and there were a couple of guys trying to arrange a business flight to Turkey. Apparently they spent 4 hours at the travel agency working out the details and it sounded like they ended up arranging something like a half-dozen flights to get to where they needed to be, bypassing the no-fly zone.

This whole volcano business actually sounds like a Doctor Who episode! Has the Master been farting around with the mountain?

It's the Pyroviles!

Ah yes - of course! And of course we know Karen was involved with them back in Fires of Pompeii, so it IS one big conspiracy! Ah HA!

(On a related note, if anyone hasn't read that Sun article yet, there's a great story in there that John Cleese decided to get around the no-fly situation by taking a taxi for nearly 1000 miles to head back to the UK from Norway!)

I thought he went to Brussels for his next performance which he didn't want to miss.

I hope her sake that's Los Angeles and not Louisiana

She'll use her legs to hitchhike back to the U.K.

works better if it were the Sontarans

Sontaran- We'll blind our enemies with a fog of WAR! Sontar HA!

I think he taxied to Brussels and then was going to take a train or some combination to get back to the UK. Sounds like he was actually having a bit of fun with the situation.

There's actually a DW connection here because didn't the Tylers have to make a similar drive in Doomsday? ;)

Here's Matt enjoying some US sun with his girlfriend:

Cute pearls. ;)

yeah, Matt's getting frisky with Daisy Lowe, so he ain't gonna give a monkey's whether he's in England, America or frigging Mars...

^Well, Mars might be a problem. It's hard to get especially frisky in such a thin atmosphere.

I suppose, after Q left MI6, it wouldn't have been too hard for R to pilfer one of the submarine car prototypes.

I like the Rutans. So sue me. I think they're the vastly underrated side of the conflict.

The SFX magazine blog confirms that Matt Smith, at least, was stuck in the US and unable to attend the Sarah Jane Adventures read-through. According to the blog, though, he managed to find a way to occupy his time ... ahem...

(PS. Once you get past the reference to Smith being stuck in the US, you're on your own as far as spoilers for the SJA episode go! ;)
