Star Trek told it's best stories in the episodes. No question. NONE of the movies can break the top 20 episodes IMO. I'm talking ALL of Trek not just TOS.
In story terms, you're absolutely right. In terms of execution, not always.

Not me, even though I loved it![]()
People who can't turn their fucking phone off for 2 hours during the movie has no business going to the cinema. Fucking assholes with no respect to others.
A friend was next to me, but no one on the other side. I was in charge.
Had you turned the phone off if you weren't in the back with only your friend at your side?
As a side note, your friend seems tolerant.
That's precisely the debate I'm having right now. I consider narratives like TWOK's to be the perfect type of story -- strong, yet simple. However, even though I prefer TWOK's story to ST's, ST just did so many things right that it's going to be hard for me to not ultimately deem ST as the best Trek picture.II suspect I'll think TWOK will have more to its story but ST 2009 will be fun to watch and will be more dynamic.
I think that TWOK does have a stronger (and simpler) narrative spine. I don't really think that alone is enough to make it the better movie.

Who cares! I did it and nothing bad came of it!
