So am I to assume from "The Naked Now"...

Different people react to alcohol in different ways. I think it'd be funny if Deanna got really surly and aggressive

Riker can obviously handle his alcohol.
But Deanna did get surly when she got drunk in First Contact.

Was that the ep where they made it sound like they had never heard of James T. Kirk?

(Looks it up. Thanks to our amazing technology Netflix, I can punch up the line reading in about 45 seconds.)

Nope, I was wrong. Picard is just being matter of fact in the delivery.

I would think Brent Spiner would have the better reason for being "totally ashamed" of this episode. I never bought the "prick me, do I not bleed" rationale for Data being infected.

Why? Did Brent have a writing credit?

(I agree with your sentiment but not your apportioning of blame :techman: )

I was just responding to the post about Frakes saying he was "totally ashamed" of this episode, seeing as how Frakes, to my knowledge, didn't have a writing credit, either.

Still, how did this virus affect Data? A chemical imbalance is enough to make him act drunk. Why didn't they explore that further for giving Data emotions, since he demonstrated some human emotions while intoxicated?

I also bristle at the "download" the data to sickbay line. It just rubs me wrong for some reason. I keep wondering what my 1987 self thought about that line, since "download" wasn't really a part of the vernacular at the time.
In 2013, it's not really logical. Except if it's a stupidly heavy PDF, the transfer would be the faster part. The bigger deal would be the search for occurences in a databse loaded with a least one hundred years of boring log entries.

In fact, I'm realising there's the same problem that I see in Home Soil: 24th century space doctors aren't trained about this kind of collective madness. It's not normal they have to use old primairy sources instead of an updated litterature about strange spatial illness.

Probably the beard has something to filter his breath.

Nope. No beard in this episode.

It was following:
"Personal log, Stardate 47276.9. As we begin the fifth year of our mission, I am amazed that no-one has yet to notice my little problem..."
So, after the first year, Riker realized that his breath can be suspicious, so to continue to hide his little-problem, he took a little precaution.
