SNW uniforms and characters revealed (old and new)

I would be so incredibly happy if it was just a random name, unconnected to Khan or a derivation of Arik Soong's ancestry.

I just don't think that's likely. There's no way they didn't know "Noonen-Singh" is Khan's last name and it's a coincidence. There is some purpose behind it. I'm not sold that she's his descendant, and it could be she's genetically altered in a lab and named after him or some such backstory, but it's still quite the coincidence she'd be on the ship that eventually discovers him and then defeats him twice.

Inspired by this thread:

Small Universe, yay or nay?
Maybe not small universe but I can believe a small Starfleet to be honest. The Enterprise is the number one heavy hitting ship in the fleet. It's not unusual it keeps seeing the same people over and over, not unlike how top sections in large organizations keep having the same names in them.

I need that hope.

I don't like including Chapel because her TOS series bible bio has her joining Starfleet and becoming a nurse after the loss of her fiance, Dr Roger Korby, five years before "What Are Little Girls Made Of?" so ca. 2261-62, and I would've liked to have seen that maintained.

Yes, in the episode we know she gave up a research career to join Starfleet, but it doesn't say when. Indeed, we can now assume that her joining Starfleet was the reason they never got married. Otherwise, why didn't she just go with him? It also explains why she wasn't on one of the previous 2 expeditions.

Thank GOD for the new collars/uniforms.

“Singh” is like “Smith” for those of the Sikh religion. Talking millions. Small-universe-same-name BS aside, there’s no reason why someone can’t have the same name and necessarily need to be related.

Did I mention that I love the uniforms?

Show us the damn hats!

Now... since a lot of things here look like they’ve been upgraded away from prior Disco configurations, what about the big-E? Has she undergone a secret pre-refit refit as well? Inquiring minds want to know...

I wonder how many other TOS characters we will see appear in this series. I have a feeling that the last episode will have Kirk appear and take over. Be interesting to see if Scotty will appear as Chief Engineer or if that will be Bruce Horak's character Hemmer.

If it turns out she just happens to have the same surname, I'd love it if they pull the "why should I change my name, he's the one that sucks" card from Office Space.

Her last name isn't "Singh". Her last name is "Noonien-Singh". If it was "Singh" nobody would be commenting on it.

Although Khan's name wasn't hyphenated. It was Khan Noonien Singh. This could be their way out. It's a reference without being a familial relation, like Dr. Noonien Soong.
