I can see Boyce having retired by 2259 but Piper is CMO during Kirk's first year as Captain so that would give M'Benga a few years in the job unless Piper ends up being in the cast.

Una's jacket reminds me a little of a cross between ENT uniforms and the PIC Era Starfleet uniform design.

I'm loving the new uniforms. The pointy sideburns. "Cage"/WNMHGB Spock hair. Cadet Uhura! M'Benga. A very mod-take on the 60s aesthetic.

Also, looks like the details on the shoulder/sleeves of the new uniform is the department emblem within the Delta (or Flyin' A as Roddenberry called it).

I hope not. That's the stupidest thing.

I'm not thrilled with having M'Benga and Chapel serving on the Enterprise this early, nor with making that one character a Noonien-Singh.

I do like having an Andorian or Aenar aboard ship, however.

I agree on all counts.

More small universe stuff. I know this isn't a problem limited to NuTrek but damn do they seem to love it.

Because they want fans to have the feels.

we're about seven years away from Kirk taking command of the Enterprise anyway if SNW takes place literally after the events of the Discovery Season 2 finale which takes place in 2258.

Uhura can work because she'd be a fourth-year Cadet around 2259 and about 21 years old. It's forced but there are only seven more years before she's a Lieutenant on the bridge of the same ship. A Khan descendant, yeah, that's pushing the stupid envelope.

I'll give them Chapel, just because she moves on in her career post TOS, but Uhura served on the same vessel her entire career, from cadet to retirement? Una having a hyphenated last name the same as another TOS character? A Noonen-Singh?
