Both of these facts can be true. Creatives spin and pitch and drum up hype, sometimes irresponsibly, and fans run away with things and get notions of it'll definitely happen and everyone wants it just because they do in their heads.

Probably because there is a definitive end point they can look at, while the steaming model is one that depends greatly on returning subscriptions.

Also because Disney plus is pivoting back to cinemas too with its biggest name franchises and some companies feel the most assured way to success is to just copy what everyone else is doing

Ultimately, the streaming model was never going to work. You just don’t get the same returns on investment that ad-based terrestrial television and theatrical distribution models and physical media sales do.

Netflix sold the entire industry a false promise, looted the bank, and will leave everything a ruin. The same sad story, written by Wall Street and tech bro investors, time and time again.

I wouldn't say that the case. They now feel they have enough Star Trek streaming content to continue to draw viewers and to license out to other streaming platforms.

There hasn't been a new Star Trek feature film since 2016, so they probably feel they can bring in more people and get a better return on investment for the money spent.
