Anybody else have winter where they live? This is the earliest winter i remember.

Well, it's Sweden... Time to dust off your dog sled. ;)

It's snowed where I live about that time of the year in the past too occasionally, but the snow usually doesn't stay until december or so.

And I fucking hate snow in the city. Obviously it's nice as long as it looks like in the first picture, but it very quickly turns into disgusting half-liquid grey-brown mush mixed with dog-shit like it's starting to in the bottom two pictures.

No, but in England it went from summer warm to winter cold overnight. There was no gradual decrease in temperature - I went straight from light t-shirts to several-layers-and-still-cold.

Snow's awesome - for the first few days. Forget the mush, it's the crushed, melted, refrozen slippery ice covered in a benign-looking layer of fresh snow that sucks.

Plus, England falls apart when the first flakes fall - airports are closed, schools are shut down, we run out of grit for the roads...it's embarrassing.

We seem to be having an early winter here in Romania, too. I have some friends who live in a mountain area and yesterday it snowed there. Where I live it smells of winter and it's way too cold for October.

Really? We're always mad at the authorities because they're never prepared when winter comes. It's true that we usually get a lot of snow. But if it happens in England, too, I guess we're not having it much worse.

Chicago area here. I don't remember snow before mid-November, but I could be wrong.

I'm hoping for a mild winter this year. I have the vehicle for it, but got fed up with snow the last 3 seasons.

It's mostly the other people that can't drive at all, let alone in the snow.

The rain's positively biblical in Scotland this morning. Some snow on the mountains apparently but not down here in the glens.

And here i was worried because i saw a tow truck yesterday having its snow plow attached to the front. But, we've still got time here ... I hope.

I think we've gotten snow earlier but nothing like the OP. I can't wait for winter! Although now that I think about it, walking to class is going to be painful, plus the CTA will get gross from all the snow melting off people's shoes. :(

It's still getting up to around 80 in the afternoon here. And that's just fine with me! :techman: I grew up in the Southeast, so I'm happy to be back here, but when I lived in St. Louis for a while, it really freaked me out when it snowed in October once! I think that was around 1998 or 1999. Not only that, but they still expect people to go to work when it snows there! :wtf::lol:

Northern California...last week 86F yesterday 72F...partially cloudy, very nice.. rain today

we get snow, usually for a few days in the winter.. but all I need to do is drive 1 hour to the mountains, and there'll be plenty in a few weeks..

The weather forecast is threatening snow for the end of the week, but we haven't had any yet.

I'm hoping we don't get it too early - I don't want it to have the chance to melt and become icy. A winter of constant -10c would suit me nicely :)

I concur about the sudden drop in temperatures for England. I really do have to get a move on selling my current car, having nearly spent £1k on repairs due to parts breaking in the winter over the past 3 winters ><

The kids at school were pleased as punch that there was snow outside. Kiddo sang happily all the way to school "ja se det snöar, ja se det snöar det var väl roligt, hurra!" (Translation: Yes look it snowing, that is so fun, hurrah!!)
Kind of switched me out of the "Oh dear, snow is here" funk into a "Wow, I wish I was a kid again" ;)

Ugh! And I just got a message from my condo association's snow removal contractor saying it's time to sign up for this year's contract. NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! Way too early for this shite.
