Snow... Snow? Snow!!!!!!

I spent the week in upstate New York...and just as I was leaving, the first snow started falling. Damn, I was glad to get out of there, and back to Virginia where it's going to be in the 70's for the next 10 days! :p (We got too damn much snow last year. I don't want any now!)

By this time last year, we were already under a foot of snow. Last winter was one of the most brutal we've had. I'm hoping this year ain't a repeat of that.

I hope I have a Christmas this year which does not involve me wading down the main street near my house in damn near waist deep snow, trying to reach the Walgreens which is the only store open because my fridge is empty and I need a frozen pizza.

It hasn't snowed here yet, but I heard that it snowed in Barrie, Ontario yesterday (an hour or two drive north). I think someone posted on Facebook that it also snowed down around Hamilton (about an hour west).

Last year, I was in Minneapolis over Thanksgiving (our Thanksgiving is in mid-October), and I went out to get a taxi to the airport, and there was a blizzard going on. It doesn't normally snow that early here.

Tomorrow's high temperature is being predicted to be 17C (about 62F). That's the kind of autumn I prefer.

Been a very warm summer and fall so far up here, unusually warm. I'm not sure if this means we'll have a crazy winter or a mild winter. Last winter was crazy. We usually get our first snow around Halloween or early November, but it doesn't look like we will this year.

It snows in England? I thought that all you had was the occasional ash showers from burning alien corpses?

Doctor Who makes it seem like snow in England is as rare as an intelligent cast member on Jersey Shore.

Admittedly, it's incredibly rare for there to be snow in England, especially in the South East, but it's been happening more often in the past couple of years.

The weather here in Ontario, Canada, is retarded. It's 17 degrees celcius today, haven't gotten any snow yet (though it is still a bit early to get it here) and the last few days were cold enough that I wore my winter jacket.

Which is why Canadians tend to have two freezers :D

17? Jeez... it was 8 up in Ottawa today, and we had snow last night.

The daytime tempratures are really bouncing around at the moment.

No snow yet but some pretty chilly (sub-zero nights here). My in-laws who about 200kms North-East of Toronto had some their first snow back last month though it was just a light dusting which melted very quickly.

My wife is wanting to get her christmas shopping done ASAP because once the snow hits it becomes harder for her (snow and wheelchairs aren't a good mix).

I timed things perfectly the last winter. Very little work around the pre-Christmas snows, and then during the New Year thaw I escaped to Mauritius for several weeks just as the real heavy stuff fell.

Hoping I get as lucky this year! :D

The good thing this year is that now that I'm self-employed, I don't need to try to go into work if it starts snowing heavily. I can go out and play in the snow instead. :)

You can take up snowshoeing. Yet another excuse to buy new footwear. :D

I could just buy a couple of tennis rackets instead and tape them to my feet. That way I'll have a hobby for summer too. Ah, cost-efficiency...

well the snow is melting, but it'll be back shortly. i didnt want to get caught with my pants down again. (figure of speech) so i went on a shopping round today. got myself some new boots (sneakers is a bad idea in 10 cm snow lol), new skies and a brand new helmet. also got myself a new jacket. courtesy of the swedish armed forces.:techman: terrible color though (m/90), but i'd better get used to it.

:lol:I'd pay money to see that one.

Not very stylish though, is it? ;)

Well these are tough economic times...
