Snoke - speculation (spoilers)

Snoke as Plageuis would be fun and nicely tie into the previous installments. Snoke as... Luke? I don't know how that line of thinking started but it doesn't make a lick of sense to me.

Luke as Snoke does not make sense with the visual queue we get by the end of Return of the Jedi. Luke is in all black for most of that film, but at the end, the tunic is open showing white inside. Luke has rejected the Dark Side, the Light is showing through.

While it could make for one hell of a "WTF" moment and some interesting back-story exposition to fill up a big chunk of Ep VIII, I highly doubt even Disney or Abrams would engage in that level of character assassination. Unless, of course, only if it leads to Luke's dramatic, unequivocal and complete redemption by the end of the third film, topped off with massive self-sacrifice to save someone (or many someones). Just don't see it happening otherwise.

I saw an interesting thing on Facebook suggesting that Snoke is the S1 Inquisitor from Rebels. Their face is actually pretty similar (the explosion he fell into at the end of S1 deformed him and that's why the lines aren't there).

I remember hearing all these rumors before the film came out that the Inquisitor was going to be involved in The Force Awakens somehow, so I was kinda surprised that he wasn't.

Some other people were noting that he kinda looked like that guy from the Banking Clan in Attack of the Clones, for whatever that's worth.

Gotcha. Yes, I should have been more clear about that. Not many people know that Sith ability to draw power from pain. I was actually surprised (albeit pleasantly) that Abrams put that in there. It is quite an obscure reference. Someone definitely did their homework on the Sith arts, though.

I would not give Abrams that much credit. Plus, if the pain was making him stronger, then why did he have such a poor showing against Finn & Rey?

Well for starters, Harrison Ford is coming back for Episode 8. They recently announced that EVERYONE from Episode 7 is signed for 8. He can't be a Force Ghost, so I'm assume he'll appear in flashback.

Also, in a recent interview one of the creators said the Ep8 script was pretty trippy or something like that.

And I certainly want to see those events directly. In a lot of ways, they're more important than anything that happened in TFA.

Fine by me.
