Yeah I would prefer my heroes to be the way they are in the comics, unfortunately that isn't always the case, and if you are going to have your shows on the CW you can expect a level of angst with them.
totally agree with you on that, they kept smallville with in the realms of comics these last few seasons. and especially with jsa movie which was fantastic and done really well. I watch only hand full of shows on cw and smallville was my all time favorite show. espcially after season 5. the only thing I would've like to have seen was a batman or a young bruce wyane but oh well.
I know they tried a spinoff with Aquaman and they also considered one called The Graysons.
Let us not remember "The Graysons" please. *Shudders*

True, but it was the capstone scene from the rest of the movie that had Bruce angsting over Rachael.
And yet that final quarter of the film still contained a good 99.9% less angst than your average Smallville episode.
Nolan angst and CW angst are two different kinds of angst Broc. One is tolerable, the other is not 
Besides, Batman's all about angst. His kind of angst, though, isn't about him moping in a barn over lost high-school love but about turning that angst into anger and action against the criminal element that causes his angst.
In The Dark Knight Bruce Wayne has just lost a life-long friend and a woman he loved deeply enough to give up a double-life for. Of course he's going to cry and be a bit pouty but then he takes that and unleashes himself onto The Joker and sacrifices his own hero's character for the sake of a greater good.
Superman, on the other hand, is supposed to be pure anti-angst, someone who has had it trained and built out of him to be a beacon of pure virtue and heroism. In Smallville, Clark/Superman still hasn't gotten over the girl who tried to marry his mortal enemy.

^ There was indeed. I think it was one of the Salkind's film attempts to do Supes V. I can't remember though now.

Weren't they behind the Superboy series in the early 90's?
I still think the writers did permanent damage to Clark by not having him voluntarily end his relationship with Lana. Clark never grew up in that relationship. Despite everything that Lana had done and gone through, he still viewed her as his fairy tale princess. It wasn't a healthy relationship.
