Smallville#8-11: "Legion" Discuss/Grade <SPOILERS>

I'll give it an Above Average. It started off slow and erratic. Clark was an angry douche like he always is and that guy Garth needs to be on the receiving end of a savage beating. Can't they ever cast someone in the "hotheaded hero" role who isn't fucking annoying on this show?

Still, it was very cool seeing the Legion in action and I'm glad Chloe got her memories back. But Clark should not be off the hook for mindraping her.

Evil Chloe was definitely the highlight of this episode.

People,

Well, I enjoyed that! I like how there were enough small bits of the original three Legionnaires costumes to identify them -- esp. Cosmic Boy's little circles on his upper chest. I also liked how their outfits were a bit reminiscent of the recent X-Men costumes -- like regular clothes, only jazzed up a bit.

Which brings me to a supposition regarding Clark. I know Tom Welling and TPTB don't want to show him with a cape. What if his "first" costume is patterned after the recent Superboy outfit -- jacket, sunglasses, with the Krytonian family symbol on his chest and on the back of his jacket? I say this because the Legion's costumes reminded me a bit of the clone Superboy's garb. :techman:

That way they can keep their promise of no cape. Of course, they should only show that at the end of the series, which may not be the end of this season, as I've heard rumors of a season nine.

Oh, I rated it "above average." A good return ep!

Okay, guess this answers my BIG question.

She DOES remember what Clark took from her.

But she doesn't remember that the Big Blue Dolt took her memories from her.

I hope she does, and reams him a new Kryptonian asshole for it.

I couldn't agree more. And I LOVED that she told Clark that doing the right thign would be to kill her.

Well, Chloe was unconscious when Clark took her memories. So it's not wrong that she doesn't remember.

But Clark had better not get away with it.

Agreed on both counts. I definately think that before this season is over, there needs to be a reckoning where Chloe has an epiphany, or somehow learns what the House of El did to her memories. Yeah, the Big Blue Dolt felt he was doing it to protect her, but did he had the right to do it?

At the risk of repeating myself (too late!) Chloe was fuckin' hot in this ep. I'm going to have dreams about her as Chloviac.

Well, the Chlovage has always been guided by her moral compass. Let's hope that ultimately, she doesn't end up in that situation.

Wow, the first stinker of the season and it had to be with the Legions appearing in it? How the hell is that even possible? This was one of the worst episodes of Smallville ever written. Without any heart or mind in it whatsoever. The Legion actors were practically phoning it in. Awful.

Well, it would be a very boring world if we all liked the same thing. I actually thought this was one of the most entertaining eps in what has been a great season thus far. In fact, I give it 'Super' on the poll.

As I mentioned somewhere above, it might have something to do with the fact that I had no real preconceptions going into the show, inasfar as the Legion was concerned.

The Legion actors, especially Garth, aren't good enough actors to have the ability to phone in a performance.

I enjoyed it, but I thought the actors playing the legion really sleepwalked through their roles, especially the guy wearing black (don't remember his name). The Lightening Lad guy seemed to have some personality, but he had a face that you just want to punch for some reason.

While I was amused with all the Superman mythos vs. Smallville mythos references, it got a little much by the time the episode was over. Not as bad as it was in "Aqua", but pretty close.

I gave it an Above Average.

It was kinda sloppy--a real let down. After all the hype I was expecting more. There were several glaring plot holes. Some of which, I'm still not sure about. The acting by the Legion-folk was down right awful. And the plot just seemed haphazardly thrown together. For one thing, I think this would have worked better as a two-parter. It was definitely the worst episode of the season.

Except that's not Superman. In fact, Clark acted the most Supes-like in this episode than he ever has in the show. It was one of the few parts of the episode got right.

I'm back, and this was very well written, acted I was surprised by using their real names, and that fact that Garth re- stated the no tights,no flights rule.
Also implying that CK AKA Kal-EL wouldn't be ready to fly just yet.

I think history has been altered slightly again, think about this for a moment, when the Legion tells Clark that Chloe Sullivan doesn't exist because he destroys Brainiac in the form of Chloe, and after when they arrive in our time its just before the epic battle.
Now for Doomsday at end of the episode we still see the FOS Brainiacfied ,after Davis transformed back into Doomsday .

I think that we're going to see some more eps dealing with the Legion, and maybe CK traveling into the 31st century to visit the legion.

Remember if Smallville continues to season 9,there could be more stories dealing with more DC characters that CK influences for the greater good.

Well I have babbled long enough I'm tired.

Good night

Signed

Hey, for all we know Chloe changes her name, goes underground and is never discussed by Kal-El when his story is written (they had to learn about it from SOMEwhere...and I doubt there are Time Bubbles ( ;) ) making visual records of every little thing in the Legion's past that may have been lost to wars or time).

I think it was Garth who said that.

I liked that Rokk called him "Lightning Lad" and later he called Rokk "Cos"...plus the little saturn logo on Imra's T-shirt...nice touches.

I expected worse...they delivered more than that so thumbs up.
