This is one of the points I make about "Smallville" and it's lack of consistency. Now granted a television series can not possibly touch on all the plot points and resolve them to the sanctification of a demanding fan base (of which I think we tend to be sometimes) but still this is glaring. Even maybe mention that a search happened off screen then maybe Ollie's inner turmoil would make more sense.

I will say though I thought the funeral scene was done really well...and I find it interesting that it is Lois who is the one who detects the white pyramid flower crystal thing before it knocks everyone out.

Good, up from the "average" I almost went with.

What happened at the end? A triangular light thing popped up and then they were knocked unconscious. What was that all about?

Some people believe Clark might fly in this one...I doubt it.
I thought that a possibility too given the episode title and the fact that this was a mid-season finale. And when Lois was falling, I thought Clark might fly up and catch her. If that doesn't do it, what will?

...I'll be happy to have a break from the show for a spell.
Me too Proc. Now I can use the break to catch up on other stuff I've been saving since September.

If hawkman is supposed to be resurrected.... shouldn't his wife be resurrected also.... going with the information provided before this, when both are dead both get resurrected... wasn't it supposed to be a endless cycle of resurrection and death.... for both the husband and wife?
How does that happen exactly? Does Shanks come back fully grown? Or will he be reborn as a baby who will grow up to look like Shanks?

And I agree with Trekker. His death isn't a big deal because he's Hawkman and will be back and because he's hardly been a part of the show.

I think the show has been lacking with the absences of characters like Lionel, Jonathan & Martha...not having those more elder characters lessens the charm the series had from the beginning.
I agree. Lionel, as good a character as he was, stuck around too long, but Ma and Pa Kent should still be around. Killing off Jonathan was a dumb move. They could have kept the Kents and reduced them to 'occasional guest' status.

And I don't use the Lord's name in vain lightly it's just that that was a lot to take since we knew from Episode 1 any relationship between Lana and Clark was doomed to fail.
But it was a matter of how it would happen.

Yeah now that you mention it, just where is My Favorite Martian, anyway? His absence this season has rather noticeable.
He's flying around the country looking for a decent box of Oreos.
Double-Stuff I hope. That's the only good Oreo cookie. I don't eat 'em anymore, but when I did, that's what I got. I tried the vanilla ones, but they weren't good. I wouldn't mind trying the soft ones, but like I said, I don't eat those things anymore. Too artificial.

"The woman I love...because I literally cannot get close to Lana. I never actually chose you, Lois. Wheelchair cripple Lex put a kryptonite cockblock on me."
"But all that aside, you've got a really great rack on you."
You should see Welling's real life wife. Talk about a great rack. And I'm not referring to her carpentry skills.

I had a pic, but I can't find it.

"Lois Kent" sound kind of clunky.

Is The Lois Blur any better?
Lois LeBlur sounds good. Sounds chic.

"Ma'am, i'm going to have to ask your permission for a full pat down"
What no full body scan?
No, because with a full pat down, he gets to put his hands all over her.

And did Clark make her that ring by compressing a lump of coal with his sphincter or did he go to [product placed jeweler]?
I can't imagine any jeweler doing a product placement on Smallville or anywhere for that matter.

Lois sounded like Sarah Palin when talking to Kat

Well, when she puts the glasses on, the resemblance is uncanny.
I've been making the Sarah Palin comparison for about two years now. I even started a thread about it over at KryptonSite.

Bruce Wayne should be the best man, oh yeah, no Bruce Wayne.
That's what I thought too.

Gaeta's been busted!
I liked how he knew he was busted, and I like how he handled himself during the interrogation. A real pro there. The kind of stuff we saw in Chloe.

Wow I got some serious Stargate vibes from the cast. From Brent Stait to Shanks to Alaina huffman. Plus the whole iris at watchtower
Brent Stait was there? Didn't notice.

I think shutting down Watchtower was a bit more dramatic than it needed to be.

Me, tomorrow, when I leave the office. I'm shutting down the office. I stand there dramatically as I hit the button to close the auto-shades for the window, the fan in the room and turn off the light switch. "For now... until tomorrow, I'm shutting down my office."
That was so BADASS and COOL!

NAWWT!!!

Someone tell Old Navy their commercials aren't entertaining, whimsical or making me want to buy their products.
I actually like those commercials from a few years back.

I must have missed something as I can't quite figure out how this situation has escalated to this point.

There was a Mutant Registration Act... or something.

But Colonel One-Eye was using it as a front to capture and trap superheroes. Clark found the prison and destroyed it resulting in One Eye's losing an Eye. (This becoming One Eye.) Now, it seems, between that and some people claiming Ollie kicked some dude's ass now Nazis are here and Future Guy is going to come and kill us.

Or something.

I may have missed something too.
It's Darkseid. His influence is what's causing the crackdown and it's what caused the crowd to go after Ollie.

Great entrance by Hawkman!
So, the wings fold up. Nice to know.

Quick, get a sarcophagus!
I totally missed that Stargate reference at first, given the Egyptian motif they're using for Hawkman.

I just hope we get a fun, wacky, Valentine's Day episode.
My first thought? Pink Kryptonite. ;)

No fair seeing only a top shot of Zatanna!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Missed that. You folks are pretty observant.

My only major complaint was the continued presence of the incredibly annoying Cat Grant.
It was nice to see her, Lois and Tess in the same room. Lots of hotness.

There was a scene in Icarus of Chloe & Lois talking...like a flash back but it was unused footage from Lazarus...at least Chloe was in the ep.
Thanks for the clarification. It looked like old footage, mainly due to Lois' hair, but I wasn't sure.

Yet another SV episode where the last five minutes is the best part.

I actually dozed off half-way through, and I just woke up from a good night's sleep.

But, man, the ending...

Now I'm really jonesing for them to get the whole band together for the finale--even if it means most of the rest of the season is filler episodes.

How has the first half of season 10 brought Clark any closer to becoming Superman? He has The Suit and he has only tried to seriously fly once this season. I was really hoping back when the season started that the final scene in mid season finale would have him jump up in the air and fly. The writers are probably going to rush his development into Superman to the point that it won't feel natural.

If we wanna be critical and pull no punches here...I would have to say that despite the nice shiny candy that we've been thrown here once in a while...nothing really has happened to really progress Clark to becoming Superman. He has a nice kewl leather jacket that he barely rares (what is that like Clark's dress uniform?) he still hasn't flown yet...and he's barely started acknowledging his friends. I think we're not going to see any real significant progress until May. I'm sticking with that.

Seriously, Clark has spent all of two minutes in the new costume this season. Overall, he still seems to be stuck where he was last season.

That is what irks me with this final season. They introduce new items, like Clark's new Blur outfit, and we only see twice. Just keep him wearing the black. It is not like the new red jacket and blue shirt brings HIM any closer to Superman. For the FINAL season I expect the writers to make character progress. There has been very little to suggest at this point he will become superman, except for the 200th episode. I can understand the "no tights, no flights" back in the early to mid seasons, but now it has gotten just plain silly. Flying doesn't make Clark Superman anymore than x-ray vision, super-speed, or any other power. It is the attitude of the man that will make him "super" and there is no sign of that and I am afraid we won't see it until the very last episode.

Clark should have been flying at the start of the season (aside from the obvious that he really should be flying years before now).

I never expected to see Clark as Superman until the final shot of the final episode, so I'm not finding anything disappointing so far. This is SMALLVILLE after all, not THE NEW, NEW ADVENTURES OF SUPERMAN.

If I want to see Superman in all his glory, I'll catch the next movie.

We're not talking about seeing Clark as Superman though Greg...I think we all can agree that will happen in May as I've already stated many times in previous threads, what we're concerned with is character evolution and progress. Please...if someone can actually indicate what character progress (i'm not talking about surface progress either) Clark has made this season feel free to do so.

Understood. I just don't watch the show to track his progress to Superman. To me, that would be like getting frustrated that THE FUGITIVE wasn't clearing his name fast enough or that that castaways weren't making any progress in getting off GILLIGAN'S ISLAND. It's not going to happen until the last episode, so why worry about it?

The show ends when he becomes SUPERMAN so they're going to wait until the very end.

Okay but the producers and the writers have gone out of their way this season and stated that Clark WILL make that journey than in previous seasons and if one doesn't watch "Smallville" to see through to that ultimate pay off then why are any of us fans bothering in the first place?

But Smallville has been under the imminent threat of cancellation since 2003.

Every year they are one bad phone call away from turning that deush into Superman.

by the way, the castaways got home and the Fugitive was exonerated.

Of course the castaways were not rescued till that movie ten years after cancellation. Do we really want to wait fro 10 years after smallvilles cancellation to see a reunion TV movie where they finally do everything?

I really must look for the facts of life tv movie where Blaire comes back and buys the school.

To enjoy the individual episodes on their own merits?

I sometimes think fans place too much emphasis on "story arcs" and "character evolution" these days, to the extent that episodes are judged only on whether they advance the story, and not on whether they're funny, exciting, amusing, well-written, etc.

Personally, I'd rather watch an entertaining standalone ep than one whose primary function is to move a story arc from Point A to B.

The ideal would be to do both, of course, but I won't begrude a fun episode for not advancing some larger storyline.

"Character development" can be overrated. Sherlock Holmes never "evolved." Neither did Zorro or the Green Hornet.

Was Tim Daily's ( A million times the Superman (animated) than Welling will ever be.) exonerated in the short lived 90s remake of the fugitive?

Over the last few years I have gotten into the new Doctor Who series and I have started to wonder if maybe 20+ episodes are too much. I think Smallville is one of those show that might benefit from a 13-15 episode season with a much more focused season story line then stringing it out for 21 or 22 episodes. (not to pick on Smallville, Heroes probably could have used it also).

I don't know if we will ever see the serialized type of stories like JMS's Babylon 5 that much but I think Smallville could have used more pre-planning too.

The first two seasons of Smallville were very tight. High s(trung)chool love triangle which was going to see Chloe and Clark together forever and Lana was going to be a bitter old maid.
