Sir Patrick Stewart open to another movie?

Mr. Nimoy would have argued that a lot of other people also had vital roles in the success of TOS, I expect.

As to the opening question of this thread...we'll see what happens, I guess.

Yeah, he's been on that trajectory for a while now, it's unfortunate. But it's not untypical for older people, some stop giving a fuck about anything. Mostly to do with not being at peace with the nearing end, I guess. Which is funny taking in account what he mentions in regards to his docu, his outlook in life etc.

Also, this quote from the article, regarding current Trek:

“I got to know [creator] Gene Roddenberry in three years fairly well,” said Shatner, “he’d be turning in his grave at some of this stuff.”

Haha, I for one am pretty sure that at this point Roddenberry is turning in his grave at all the people stating he'd be turning in his grave - especially the ones concerned with his """vision""".

The most interesting part is that he wasn't buried at all. He was cremated and the ashes were flown up in a rocket... Cue the anti-rocket people any second now...

Anyone can speak for Roddenberry, but only Roddenberry would be believed at face value. Well, probably, he was of sound mind when wanting TNG to replace TOS (the latter excised from canon - yes, TOS... not TAS) as his grand vision of the future in the biggest retcon ever and I'd wager a couple Quatloos that not everybody wanted to believe that back then either... but it's still a tv show... new makers will change things, comparing them without any flexibility doesn't help. and I say that as a fan of DSC's Harry Mudd.

I believe another movie centred around Picard when I see it, not any sooner. Granted, in the current climate I think it theoretically could happen and I also would have never believed that he'd come back for another Star Trek show in the freaking 2020s. Plus its good for people of that age if they stay active, I hope I'll be as hale as he appears to be when I reach his age.
But I'm holding my breath for it.
But @Takeru is also right that Stewart pretty much has to say he'd be up for it when asked by a fan like that, he can't exactly say no and disappoint his audience.

If nothing catastrophic happens between now and time for another movie, I think it would be absolutely amazing, and almost an obligation given the way the TNG movies ended, to do one more movie to tie things up the way it should have happened, with the TNG crew sailing off into the sunset and signing off in the credits. If it's good enough for the TOS gang, then it's good enough for the TNG gang. Maybe if they can't do it in Picard Season 3, they can at least do a "Search for Data" type deal in the movie. There are always possibilities, as put by another resurrected Enterprise crewmember, and I'm sure there is a trace of Data somewhere if you look hard enough. Make it a cross between Treks 3 and 6, this time with the TNG gang, and it has potential to be the among the best Trek films ever.*

*I know this entire post is a total pipe dream, but dammit if it wouldn't be amazing.

I'd personally love a massive multi-show crossover, heck maybe even multiversal? (mind you the new comic series seems to be covering that!)

Pine, Stewart, Shatner, Mount, Wesley etc imagine that?!
That's a lot of captains.

Having all those captains and characters appear in the same movie would be quite a sight to behold. It is highly improbable that would ever happen, though.

There is a proverb about too many captains. "Too many captains will sink the ship". With that many egos involved and the inevitable demand for huge paychecks, that ship would never get off the ground.

After recent events, forget about Shatner.

He's hard at work making sure bridges are burned between him and everyone else on Star Trek.
When I read that, I couldn't help but think about Shatner Kirk's final scene in GEN.

If it is true that Shatner has been burning bridges, then Kirk's demise, as a result of a collapsing bridge, was all the more fitting, in hindsight. I guess one can say that the collapsed bridge metaphorically foreshadowed Shatner's unproductive future relationship with TPTB who produce Star Trek.

In any case, one of the last words that Kirk uttered was "it was fun". If that turns out to be Shatner's last Star Trek screen appearance, which seems likely, at least it was fun while it lasted.

Of course he's open to the idea, very few actors are not open to ideas. They might turn down specific projects for a variety of reasons but when the questions is about a hypothetical thing in the future the answer is pretty much always an automatic "Yes, if ...".
Good point.

Unless the suits at Paramount and Stewart actually sign the dotted line on a new movie deal, and say "make it so", then it's just talk.

I'd be very happy to see another TNG movie, I liked them all, some are excellent some aren't as good but that's what story telling is all about, you like some, some you don't but they all add a rich tapestry to the universe that is Star Trek :)

If it does it's job (dubious proposition) it will end on a satisfactory note for TNG and let it rest.

They didn't exactly win me over with the Trailer of Doom.
Trailers are always out of context. Never trust them.

I mean, look at this TMP trailer

They didn't exactly win me over with the Trailer of Doom.
As skeptical as I am (the huge love fest online puts me off significantly) trailers are the worst benchmark for a film. They are designed to advertise that a movie is coming and vague sense of what it's about. That's about it. I put about as much credence to a trailer as I do online YT videos discussing Trek. That is, not much.
