Silo (Apple TV+) | Rebecca Ferguson, David Oyelowo, Tim Robbins

“If you fail to stick the landing like Wayward Pines, The Event and FlashForward failed to, you all die.”

Wayward Pines definitely stumbled, but the story recovered, and got it's footing, after the audience left, and then tedious season 2 shit the bed.

The Event didn't mention "the event" until the last episode, as something that might eventually happen if the show was renewed.

Flash Forward was genius from beginning to end, shut you mouth.... The bad guy was the bad guy from the Adventures of Bristo County Junior, so in my heart of hearts I was anticipating the two serieses to be bookeneded and linked like an Oroboros.

In answer about Juliette lives in the next spoiler.
Juliette is wearing a red firefighting suit she got from Solo in Silo 17, Bernard is wearing a standard white cleaner suit. You can probably guess which one is more suited for protection from flames.
Yes, I have no doubt that Juliette will survive (the firefighter suit being a clear reason). However, the other character went down right away and Juliette followed and may (or may not) cover the other character, possibly giving a chance to survive.

Since there are indications that there is DNA-tampering going on, I'm also not sure to which extent those people are normal humans. Juliette has survived so much, and while that may only be down to the usual tendency of movies and series to ignore real life outcomes to dangerous stunts (like diving incredibly deep for the given circumstances) it's also possible that she is enhanced in some way to improve endurance and resilience.

I really wanted to know what The Algorithm said to Lucas. And I wonder why it was willing to work with Camille but not Sims. I assume that will all come together.

So glad Walk wasn't a traitor.

The Safeguard...hmm. What would be the point of a doomsday device for people already hiding from doomsday?
Walk's reveal was a great moment. It was telegraphed, but for a moment they made me doubt.

As for the Safeguard - I'm not very sure there has actually been a doomsday (beyond that seemingly deserted city in the background - maybe connected to that "dirty bomb" that was referenced in the very last scene). The way the Silo's are run by the actual, hidden overlords does not seem compatible with someone trying to preserve survivors. From dialogue of Solo and about the Safeguard, it seems someone is intentionally using poison (gas?) in certain circumstances. And the hidden manual from "The order" seems more written to divide and conquer than as a helpful guide how to avoid people going outside in a toxic world. Blaming mechanical even when they aren't actually doing anything wrong?

There is potential for a messianic moment for Juliette, when she (almost inevitably) emerges as a Phoenix after the fire. And that after she returned from the death (cleaning) already, and was "baptised" in silo 17.

Well, that and the poison atmosphere…

Which may not be poisonous unless the overlord pump in poison, like we now know they can do within the silo. Right outside the Silo may be a backup plan, with other pipes dispensing poison there in case of a mass breakout (and possibly also in case of a cleaning).

We binged season 2 today. Why the hell
would you kill all 10000 people!
That seems insane.

That ending! I wondered if they accidentally switched to another show for a minute. However, I guessed correctly what was in the bag.

Cultural contamination.

Perhaps consider why microscopes are banned. "There's plenty of room at the bottom" as Richard Feynman put it.
Cultural contamination.
Someone with a God complex, given the power to wield it, might do the same to cultivate posterity according to their belief in what constitutes a perfect society. Think Joseph Stalin or Pol Pot. Elevators/lifts are also banned for a reason. "Divide and conquer" as another putative dictator put it. The levers of mass control used by tyrants, oligarchs and demagogues have been perfected over a few thousand years of history.

Immanuel Kant was a real pissant who was very rarely stable...

A Dictator is rarely benevolent.

Asimov's Zeroeth Law.

"A Robot shall not harm, or through inaction allow humanity to come to harm."

The machine is willing to kill 49 Silos, so that 1 Silo will make it.

Remember when Doctor Who trapped himself inside his Confession Dial?

Same difference.

There are 51 silos.

Do you really think that America was the only country that built Silos?

In the same amount of time, I believe that the Chinese (with brutal slave labour, and no care for human dignity) could have built 4 times as many Silos inside their borders as America, and their people were already conditioned for decades to shut up and do their work, or else.

The Russians might have made 10 silos, before it was too late, but they would have fallen to pieces after 15 years, because of graft and corner cutting.

The Irish thought screen doors were a good idea, never mind.

...

It's really a question of whether the technology was shared universally or not, if you don't discount the talk of raising babies in coal mines (faster than the Russians) from Dr Strange Love, because there is a question of parity, it doesn't really matter who survives, as long as some one does.

The number of silos depends on the needs of the story.

Personally, I decided long ago to withhold my vital essence. It's just a lot less hassle for me and everyone else.

That sounds to me like you are not voicing your theories at all but rather passing book spoilers off as you being observant which is a dick thing to do.
Howey has indicated that it's not the reason. Its inclusion in season one is possibly deliberate misdirection. I assume some of us are expected to develop an incorrect suspicion. This is what I was perpetuating - so it's not a spoiler.
