The weather is nicer because you're not dying from heat.
Tim, I'm celebrating the rain's return. To me it feels wonderful. We'll get some more warm days before the end of this month. It seems that autumn has come early for Seattle. Shortly before the end of August it became cool and overcast, with a lot of rain.
In the past the last sunny/mild day of the year might have been the end of September.
Oddly enough, July was unusually hot and dry.
Keys that jingle in your pocket
Words that jangle in your head
Why did Summer go so quickly
Was it something that you said?
Lovers walk along a shore
And leave their footprints in the sand
Was the sound of distant drumming
Just the fingers of your hand?
Pictures hanging in a hallway
Or the fragment of a song
Half remembered names and faces
But to whom do they belong?
When you knew that it was over
Were you suddenly aware
That the Autumn leaves were turning
To the colour of her hair
We've started, leaves are dropping and changing colors already.

That's lovely and evokes feelings of mild *regret* (seems too strong a word).
Is it original?
Lived in STL for 8 years, always said the place had binary weather! In St. Louis, autumn is the two weeks of daily rain that separates summer and winter.
