Sick on TNG?

Sometimes I think of how, you know, everyone gets sick from time to time. They hide it so well on TV. Has anyone ever noticed in an ep of TNG an actor who was obviously ill? Nasal-congestion-impaired line deliveries or some such.

I refuse to believe that in 7 years and working those crazy hours that nobody ever got a cold.

Not sure but I'm thinking most of the same lines read are re-recorded in post production, being the case they'd wait until their voices returned to normal.

What's that called, looping or dubbing or something?

Nobody has a cold for 15 years. It must have been something else.

There was an episode where Stewart had a cold sore on his upper lip. They covered it pretty well with makeup, but you could still see a bump there in closeups.

There have definitely been episodes where some of the actors have sounded stuffed up, I remember watching an episode recently and noticing it actually - can't remember which though.
There was also and episode of DS9 where Louise Fletcher had the flu and couldn't stand up for long periods of time. You could definitely tell!

I'm sure I remember Data sounding like he was stuffed up from time to time, but not for entire episodes...

Dubbing is when you add a foreign language track.

Looping, also known as ADR, is the post production technique to which you are referring. Outside of action scenes (or being sick, perhaps) you get very little ADR going on. You always want production sound when/if you can get it.

Someone was sick during the filming of Sub Rosa...it was contagious as I began to feel nauseous 5 minutes in.

Yeah, Brent Spiner did have a cold during a few episodes. And there were times he couldn't get the "Data" contacts in his eyes and you can see his real eye color.

Gates McFadden was pregnant during the series...and you know there are days you're so sick from carrying that baby that you don't want to get out of bed.

I can never forget the limp or back problem that Jonathon Frakes had during the later seasons. It was almost painful to watch him walk.
