Yeah, I hope the guests are prepared for Dominic. Ira seemed annoyed to be asked if he started in Star Trek as a staff writer when he was a supervising producer.
I don't blame Ira for being annoyed with Dominic interrupting and other guests on recent interviews give them a chance to answer the questions they were asked first.
A baffling part of the Jonathan Frakes interview was when they were talking about the four feature films he directed -- it's only four, they mention all four, and then Keating asks him if he directed Agent Cody Banks. What?
While I do find Dominic to not be naturally adept at interviewing, I found the episodes when Connor interviewed him to be so fascinating I skipped everything in between and watched them back to back to back. Dominic has led a very interesting life and he’s a really engaging storyteller.
They had a new show where they reviewed the Cage with Jeffrey Hunter as Pike it was interesting to watch a new Star trek fan of his his reaction who never had the first pilot Star Trek show before. Dominic's backstory of how he got into acting was interesting but it would still would be nice if he didn't interrupt their guest after asking them questions.
Oh, I agree, 100 percent! My poor husband must be so sick of me chastising Dominic, out loud, while watching the Shuttlepod Show. That and my ubiquitous railing against Connor’s “Treks and Trekkers” must be very tiring to listen to but like a sports fan lambasting every referee’s call while watching the game on TV, I still repeatedly feel compelled to say something. (Are there fans that call themselves Treks? I am completely unaware of them if they exist. I think Trekkie is cute and honestly prefer it being as that is what my mom labeled herself while I was growing up.)
Found this. XD I got curious and did a google search. Apparently Gene and a lot of the actors prefer Trekker as a "more serious type of fan" as opposed to Trekkie "laid back fans".
I am familiar with “Trekker” although I was told it was intended to replace “Trekkie,” which was seen as somewhat infantilizing and belittling. I have not, however, heard anyone call themselves a “Trek.”
I enjoyed watching the interview with James Darren I liked his character Vic Fontaine on Ds9. I saw him on TJ hooker re-runs .This is one of their best interviews yet.
The latest one, I noticed that (thankfully) Dominic doesn’t talk over his guest quite as much! May this continue.
Yes it was a nice change this week. They finally got to interview Levar Burton he was busy doing conventions for a few weeks. And when he had some free time they finally got to interview him about his Career and Picard season 3. It's a great interview.
I’ve watched a few of these recently and while I love the guests, I find Dominic to be increasingly annoying and at times, actively offensive. He wouldn’t let Frakes get a word in about Thunderbirds and then compared him to Jimmy Saville. He went ahead and said ‘black don’t crack’ to Michael Dorn. He talks about eyeing up a 16 year old girl to imagine how she’ll be sexy a few years later. He makes a lot of veiled comments about ‘the wrong sort of political’ and really seems to miss the days when white males were in their ascendancy in Hollywood. The shows where he was absent due to illness are honestly much better. Dominic is obsessed with talking about Dominic or otherwise spouting some very questionable stuff.
. Soon they want to interview Terry Matalas talking about working on Enterprise and Picard season 3.Edit to add Shuttlepod show won't happen today the guest wasn't able to appear live on the show. In the next few weeks Connor and Dominic will be appearing at Germany's Fed con. They're hoping to do some interviews while they're at Fed con.
David Blue Blue who played Eli Wallace from star Gate Universe will be the first guest from a Stargate series to appear on the Shuttlepod show this Sunday.
I listened to the one with Frakes today. Man it made me love him even more and feel sorry for what happened with both Thunderbirds and TATV. I also got such a kick out of Frakes mentioning all the production people by name and that he's married to the same lady for so many years now. That will be cool! I forget sometimes that Connor was on Atlantis so maybe he'll reach out to people from that show to appear at some point
I hope he asks what he thinks would have happened to Eli if SGU had gotten its S3, or what he thought of Universe or his character. Rush, Young, and Eli were the stars of SGU with Telford, Scott, Greer, and Wray being the start of a strong ensemble cast. I don't know the rest by heart but they still stick out to me, the two other scientists, that one female soldier, and the nurse/doctor.
